Tree Is Coming Down Tonight!

Our tree will stay up until the 6th. 12 days of Christmas!

Same here! Most people don't realize the 12 days of Christmas are AFTER the actual day, so it gets a little frustrating for me to see people wanting to tear down their trees and decorations as soon as the gifts are unwrapped. :confused3 We also don't put ours up until the 2nd weekend of December so I love seeing it up with the lights twinkling for at least a few weeks!

Ours came down yesterday!
We usually leave it up till New Year's, but this year I was NOT in the mood.

Besides the tree was drying out and dying and needed to go anyway. All my indoor decor is down and packed away. :woohoo: The outdoor decor is still up, but that's just because its been toooo cold :cold: to drag out the ladder and take it all down.

Bring on spring!

well, I have always had my tree up for that length of time, BUT some of us are solo and live alone and work full time and school full time, and if I have only two days off to get work done, then that is what I need to do! besides, I have a tree going up in two weeks! I am sure no one here is doing that! I have a party (christmas) to plan for in two weeks! so some of use just do not have the time!:thumbsup2

Ours is coming down early (in fact I wouldn't be surprised to come home and find it down).

Our dog got into a disagreement with the kitten while they were both under the tree! Needless to say the thing took a header and has looked like crap ever since. I started removing stuff yesterday and I figure DH will finish today. We usually keep it up but it makes no sense to keep it up now.

I'm with you OP. Mine is always taken down the day after Christmas. For some reason my house always feels cleaner after the Christmas stuff is gone.

We took ours down yesterday. I was off for the weekend and didn't want to head in to the New Year with all that clutter. We are going away the weekend after New Year and I really had no other time.

Plus - with a real tree - it is really, really dry now, after being up for three weeks, and I was nervous putting the lights on. What fun is an unlit tree!

We took our tree down this morning and got the house back in order. Everything feels so much cleaner and less cluttered once it's all put away.

tree is still up but everything else is on the kitchen table, ready to be put away. It took me about 5 hours to decorate/put everything out. I'm ready for it to be put away.

We're the same! We put ours up about a week to 10 days before Christmas and we enjoy the 12 days of Christmas - listening to Christmas Carols (at Mass it's great to still be singing Carols). The day after the Epiphany the tree will come down. We do begin taking down some other decorations (Santas etc) so by January 6th it is just decorative lights, Manger and Tree left. Joyeux Noël !!

I normally can't stand to have ours up any more than 2 days after Christmas. This year, I don't want to take it down. It looks so pretty and it has been an awesome Christmas. I don't want it to end. But, the night after Christmas all of our lights except one strand blew, so I'm sure it will come down soon. :sad1:

Wow I'm sorry to say there are some major scrooges on the Dis Board. Between all the negative Christmas posts the last couple days and now some say, I can't stand my tree, I'm not in the mood or I just didn't feel like it. Gees!

To each their own. But I love Christmas. The decorations, the happy music, and seeing and visiting family we don't see that often.

Seems a shame but it seems like I'm in the minority.

I had the kids (aged 14 and 11) take the tree down and put it outside while I was at the hospital with their grandmother on Saturday. I was severely allergic to this tree. I'm still coughing and sneezing even though it's been out for a day and a half. I've never reacted this way before.

I was reading on an allergy site that we are not allergic to the tree, but the pollen that settled before/after it was cut and the dust that accumulates in it from the house - heat or ac etc. It suggested to only buy trees where it can be shaken as this removes pollen etc - we started doing this 5 yrs ago and I've not had any problems at all with our trees since then (I have severe allergies and asthma). Something to think about for next year!:thumbsup2

Boy, I just am NOT in the mood this year! To much school work and work with to little sleep and depression....I do NOT want to look at this tree anymore! I will leave up my outside stuff till new years...but I just took all the ornaments off and the ribbons, I just need the energy to take apart!

I always leave it up till New Years! Not this year! anyone else?:rolleyes1

Only the "guilt" of feeling like a Scrooge is keeping my tree up until New Years Day. It wouldn't have gone up at all if I had gotten Jude's diagnosis before the tree went up. On the other hand, its is his last Christmas with us so I am torn. He seems to like the lights.

I normally leave mine up until my birthday (Jan. 19) because I like looking at the lights, but I don't know if I'll actually keep it up quite that long this year. Meh, who am I kidding? I'm too flippin' lazy to take it down before I absolutely have to.

I'm not a scrooge but it was 50 degrees out yesterday (Sunday) and very cold today and rest of the week and took my outisde stuff down yesterday myself (dh broke his ankle).
Came in after putting everything away and decided tree was next. Kids already had taken their stuff and put away (they are 11 and almost 16) and said they didn't care if I took it down. I was good to go after hearing that LOL

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It must stay up till the 2nd......please please I beg of you (even though I am probably to late) to leave it up.....

My tree usually goes up the day after Thanksgiving and comes down the 2nd of Jan.

DBF bought storage bins today and I had to stress again to him to that the tree stays up til the 2nd......

Every year I take it down on new years day but tonight when I came in from work dh had already taken it down for me.
I'm not going to complain, even though I like it up longer I know dh did it because he was off today. I've been sick all season long and going to work every day has been about all I could handle. Dh was probably afraid I'd get sick again and we'd have the tree up for a month longer, lol.

Wow, learn something new every day I guess. Wanting to take you tree down AFTER Christmas is over qualifies one to be a scrooge - go figure.

Like i said earlier, we had an awesome Christmas. Loved every part of it. Now I'm ready for a great New Year.
I also didn't realize that without keeping your tree up, you are no longer able to listen to happy music, or seeing and visiting family. :confused3
Like I said, learn something new everyday.
