Tree House Villas let me know what you think about them.

I was wondering what everyone thought about the treehouse villas and any tips you could give me about this resort. I'm staying for one night then going to the Poly for 7 nights. I have 2 neices that are staying with us the first night so that's why I choose this resort. How does the transportation within the resort work? How long do you have to wait for it? How are the food choices? How do you like the rooms? Any bits of info you could give me would be great.

I'm thinking of maybe staying here for our next trip, hopefully for another week after the Fantasy Land expansion.

We stayed at THV in May. These are my thoughts:

1. I would not stay here without my own transportation. It took us 90 minutes to get from the bus stop at THV to a park. There are 2 bus stops within THV that you will have to walk to. That bus will then take you to the Springs in SSR. You will then wait at that bus stop, with all of the SSR guests, for another bus into the parks. If you get a villa close to the Grandstand section of SSR, you are better off walking the 10 minutes to that bus stop rather than taking the THV bus into SSR and changing. We were on the other end of the THV which was great when driving our car (close to the entrance/exit) but it was terrible for the bus ride.

2. Food choices are only going to be available at Artist Pallette (CS), Turf Club (TS) or some misc items at the store. All of these are located in the Springs section of SSR. This will be a 15 minute walk from the THV or you can wait on the bus. The bus runs every 20 minutes.

3. The villas themselves are gorgeous. Very nicely appointed, especially the kitchen and the master bath. They are spaced a good distance from one another with a decent driveway so they feel very remote. You are not going to hear your neighbors. The outside decks are very nice but we had a combination problem of mosquitos and the fact that our outside lights on the villa were not working (after 2 service call requests, we just gave up).

We have stayed at every DVC resort but one and THV is our least favorite. I'm glad we stayed here once for the novelty but we all disliked the remoteness and how long it took to get to the store, pool, food choices, etc. If we were going to vacation where we were planning to eat at our villa, maybe barbeque (each villa has it's own), we would consider it again.

I really want to hear how many others hate it, because that will help me with my availablity. We LOVE LOVE LOVE them! We are staying there again in January and hopefully next Christmas. We even added at SSR to be able to get in at the 11 month mark. We had a THV close to the walkway to the grandstand, so we usually walked. To be honest, we never rent a car and always give ourselves an hour to get anywhere regardless on where we stay.

We just stayed at BWV's and it took us what seemed 5 minutes to DTD and over an hour back with 7 stops. I think that there are plus and minuses to the buses at every resort. I don't like that you have to walk or take boat to DHS at BCV and BWV. It is a much longer walk than it is to EPCOT. The boats always seemed filled, and we ended up walking because we would have waited for the next boat to come. AKV is remote compared to other reosrts, but only has two bus stops. Honestly, unless you plan on driving, and stay at BLT and are only planning on going to MK or AKV going only to AK or BWV or BC and going to EPCOT, you have to expect the transportation time of 30-60 minutes each way, regardless. Ok, so that's a whole other thread, but what I am saying is unless you rent a car, you will wait for a bus.

Artist Pallete (sp?) is in the Carriage House where you check in, and we
always grab some grocery stuff there or get counter service there as well. You can then catch the THV bus at the Springs bus stop to take you back to your THV. It is like having your own house in the middle of nowhere. We never heard anyone else in our stay last year.

We LOVED it! We had concerns about the extra buses, but the added time was minimal during our stay last October. Having that 3rd bedroom was great.

We had a great time at THV 10/24 to 10/31. We had a rental car, but two nights the 2 older adults took the bus back to SSR/THV while the younger ones stay to park closing. The bus transfers were not bad. There was usually a THV bus waiting at the first SSR stop. I made my DH breakfast on the mornings that we did not have a breakfast ADR, but we ate all the other meals on property including a great prime rib at SSR Turf Club. Since it was Halloween week we decorated our deck with orange lights, and since we were seen from the water, the boat dock captains always pointed out our villa when passing. It was a fun week, with absolutely no rain.

The THV has been one of the highlights of all my DVC vacations. Sure it is a little more isolated, but the natural beauty was incredible.

We absolutely love them. For all the reasons above(with the exception of the bus transportation). We had a car so buses were not a problem. The walk to SSR was pretty and leisurely(about 5 min.) The beauty and remoteness are what sold us. Just wonderful. I hope you enjoy them. I don't think I could stay there for only one night!

We love them and the internal transportation is not bad at all. They have an internal shuttle between SSR and THV that runs ever 10 minutes, so it is not a long wait for the shuttle, you can then get a park bus after that. You also have the option just to walk over to grandstand and catch the bus from there. We stayed without a car and it wasn't bad at all. Even from further parts of THV the walk to grandstand is about 10 minutes (individual times will vary ). They also have a boat dock for boats to downtown disney west side.

If you are relying on internal transportation I would request near the south bus stop, this is closer to the path to SSR and the docks. The north part is great if you have your own car and don't want to get stuck behind a bus, etc.

They are extremely peaceful and quite and are laid out great to give lots of room!

We stayed for one night last month with grandkids. We decided to do just one night to try it too. & we all loved it.

Our flight got around 11am & we planned no parks that day.
After checking in we took the boat to DTD to shop and eat at T-Rex then picked up sandwiches at Earls to take back to the treehouses. It worked out great.
The internal buses wait was never more than 10 minutes.

We look forward to staying there again but would only do 2-3 days without a car.

Love, love, LOVE the Treehouses! We'd only stay if we had a rental car, but I'd say the same for OKW or SSR.

You are not going to hear your neighbors. .

We haven't stayed in the new THVs, but...had a group of Daytona 500 stay next to us (old villas). They had a rip roaring party...even knocked on our door, at 2AM, needing to borrow some ice and wanting to use our golf cart (you could rent golf carts to drive to DTD)

Well, I had four young children and wasn't very happy with the noise and very little sleep. We complained to Disney, but they did nothing. Nada, zip, zero... I'm sure this isn't the norm, but it did happen to us.

Like all discussions of DVC properties people tend to split along several lines:

The people who like hotel arangements (room service) vs golf course resorts (places with grounds).

There are those who need to be able to walk to a park and others who like to walk around the resort.

Those who need a car because waiting for a bus cannot be controlled and those who like the buses since it free them from the hassle of driving, parking etc. (We usually have a car but that tend to be used to eat off property and grocery shop).

There are also some of us who like to take a few days and relax without the need to go to a park or shopping.

Treehouse Villas is a perfect place for a vacation where there is no need to go to a park for a couple of days. It has the feel of being in the wilderness. You can pick berries on the path to the pool or the boat. (Check out the small frogs, lizards and birds). It is also a great place if you have muti generational group where everyone splits off to do their own thing. It is a Grand Villa on the cheap ( ok not really a grand villa, but you get an extra bedroom.) The access by bus is a little worse than some resorts and better than others. (I have had more bad bus experiences from the Epcot resorts than any other resort.)

Have fun and see if you like it. It all depends on what you like.

My only complaint was the lack of hot water in master bath tub. We could not even fill it up halfway before running out of hot water. Complained several times, and they kept saying they fixed it but nothing changed. Their final answer was this was the best they could do!! I gave up because it was starting to ruin my vacation. Complained to DVC when I got home, but had no confidence they took it seriously.

I agree. I do love the THVs, we had some great times and hope to stay there again.
