Treats left in room?

My DH and I are going to bring some treats with us to WDW to leave in the room for DD. They are going to be from "Mickey and Minnie"
How do we pull it off? Will a CM help up at the resort or will one of us have to go back to the room with out her. She will only be 2 so she probably wont understand why mommy or daddy go back to the room every evening, LOL!

How fun! Our dd will be 17 on our next trip and I'll still be doing the same thing. Do you have tags made? Anyway, you can ask the CM's but if all else fails just excuse yourself and say you have to go to the washroom, wait til she falls asleep, or doing while you are leaving the resort in the morning.

When I have done it i've had the "surprises" done before we left for the trip and then just hid them. Then I used that piece of luggage for my souvenirs.

I actually ship the gifts down to the hotel in advance and pick it up at check-in. I normally leave the room with the kids and DH stays behind for a minute or two and leaves the gift out.

One year, we put them in different places around the room and they had to go on a hunt to find them. Another time, I shipped a mickey plush we had at home with the stuff and propped their gifts next to it in our window (at POP). As the girls walked up, they would run to look at the window to see what they got.

This is a HUGE money saver too. My girls never asked for anything in the stores because they knew mickey was going to leave them something. This trip my check-out bill was $132 which was mainly due to table service tips and incidentals. No cash was spent either.

DD8 had been saving her money over the past few months so she bought a couple of things for herself and her sister, but they didn't ask me for anything!

I should have specified that we do this when we leave the room for the parks in the morning. We started doing that so that the kids had something new to play with at dinner to keep them occupied at the table.

We have done it where Tinkerbell left items for Dd while she slept. This was really, really easy until Dd got older and I fell asleep a couple of times before she did. Tink then left the stuff under her pillow while she showered that morning.

And Dh and Dd have gone to the arcade or looked at the pool while I hustled to the room. Left the stuff on her bed and hurried back out and around the hallway away from our room. Sorta went around the block or up to the food court for my refill.

Tink also leaves prizes for dd & ds. We put them out on the table and sprinkle some pixie dust around after the kiddies go to sleep. DH & I have fallen asleep a couple times but we are always up before them in the morning.

I also ship the prizes to the resort along with some snacks, drinks so the kids never question whats in the box. Leaving something each day is a HUGE money saver for us. I hit up the Disney Store Outlet every couple months and get some great stuff to put away for our next trip.

I did this on our last trip, and I am planning on doing it again next month. We didn't do things every day, but about 3 or 4 days out of 7. The kids got new Disney character PJs one night, small trinket gifts (notepad & pen for DD2 at the time, a "finger" skateboard that could have the parts taken off and replaced for DS4 at the time, etc), and then one night Mickey left plush a Mickey & Minnie doll for the kids while they slept. They loved waking up to see those!

I just stayed back a minute to set things out if they were getting a surprise when we got back to the room. The plush were set out while they were sleeping.

I also just put the gifts in a suitcase and used the space for a few things we did pick up while there.

We do this for our DDs 2 & 7. Since we fly Southwest to Orlando, I would just bring an extra suitcase with the goodies, a little pixie dust (chunky glitter) and notes from different characters. If you have to pay for the luggage, send it UPS (not USPS) directly to the hotel. USPS has to go thru the main distribution area and may possibly be delayed a few days.

If we were having a character meal, I would make an invitation from the host (Mickey - Chef Mickey's or Winnie the Pooh - Crystal Palace) along with their gifts (check out disboards for sweet people to make the graphics for you, then you print them at home).

Also, CM's can't enter your room if you're not there unless it's housekeeping (this is what I was told when I tried to have balloons put in my nephews room for his birthday). So, I would just pretend to be taking longer to get ready and let the girls and my DH head for the elevators while I put things out. Make sure you are EXTREMELY organized so it's a quick job and they won't suspect anything. I was usually at the bottom of the stairs by the time the elevator reached the lobby. I have heard some people leaving the things out with a not to Mousekeeping to set it up too (I apparently am a control freak and had to do it myself).

Finally, I would also pack up 5x8 envelopes with cheap crayons or markers, notebooks or mini games from the Dollar Tree or Target's Dollar Spot. It helped keep the kids occupied while waiting for food and characters.
