What kind of "treats" to you give your kids to eat that are actually more on the "healthy" side - yet they feel as though they're getting something like "junk"?

I know - odd question.. LOL:crazy:

with a peanut butter/cheez whiz/nutella dip...

Take a pita pocket, cut into triangles, bake at 350 until crispy...

and dipp...Enjoy!!

Yogurt popsicles...less messy than the juice ones...use ice cube trays if you want a smaller serving..posicle stick will stand up ok

Cereal "Trail Mix" ...odds and sods of cereal, add nuts and/or raisins..done!!

I could do this for days....:sunny:

I just read your post over on the CB...

You could also use salsa- store bought or homemade for the pita chips...really yummy...

To make homemade salsa, cut up a couple of ripe tomatoes, seed them (cut away the gooey parts:)) add sweet red onion, celery, frozen corn, peppers, etc, some fresh parsley, and a squeeze of lime juice ( a little lemon too - if you want) Refrigerate for a couple of hours.

Really filling, and a great appetite "tempter". It tastes delicious!!!

Pm me anytime...

Thanks! You're SO sweet.. :)

And I make just take you up on that PM offer!;)

Portable I tend to go for dry cereals, Nutrigrain bars, raisins, Craisins, trail mix I made up ahead of time, etc.

Home....I'm lucky 'cause my kids LOVE fresh fruit and my DD LOVES tomatoes and baby carrots. She'd eat tomatoes like an apple if I let her :) I do peanut butter on raisin bread for something a little different, and it's marginally better than white bread.

Fresh salsa mentioned above sounds great! I'll have to try that!

Hey - raisin bread is a good idea! Better than Cheese Twists!!;)

My kids love Fruit Leathers. They're just dried smushed fruit (no sugars added) but they like them the same as those all sugar "fruit gushers" type of things. They love mixed snacks - when I throw a bunch of different things in a baggie. Kinda like a make your own trailmix. I like that I control what goes in. My kids also think golden raisins are a special treat.

The other thing is to make the food into special shapes. Put cream cheese on 3 ritz crackers and arrange them on a plate like a snowman. Then you put raisins for the face and pretzel arms if you've got them. We also make peanut butter sandwhiches and I use a cookie cutter to make them into shapes. That's a big hit as well. As long as the food is fun, my kids will eat anything healthy.
