Treated badly by CM on phone

rudeness is not ok, I think that it is great that they will not let you dble bk, I better make sure I don't have any:lmao: I know that I couldn't get a table @ LTT for 9/28 for 4 so I had to split us up, ALL the CM's i have spoke w/have been great, even saying to keep calling back to try & get the 4 person table, I'm sure that they have looked & seen my ADR's when I call. I wonder if they are just going to take the liberty to cancel certain ADr's if you have dble booked??

They would never cancel an ADR w/o telling you, otherwise someone would get into BIG trouble.

FYI, I do not ever make ADR's. I do not plan ahead that far. I'm on vacation and I do not want to be involved with the same "gotta be there's" as my regular life. I, in recent years, have traveled alone. Last trip, I went to the restaurant near the Muppet's 3D (sorry I do not remember the name) (it doesn't matter). I asked if they could accommodate one "walk in" and they said, and I quote, "absolutely not".

Armed with that knowledge I would have to say that having more than one ressie will indeed deprive someone else of the chance to dine in a particular restaurant. I'm not faulting the OP because they didn't know it would be a problem but I am so glad that this is coming out on this board. It is a self-centered practice that needs to stop or Disney needs to go back to the first come first served system. I am glad that they are trying to enforce this even if they do occasionally come across as rude. In this day and age, people are always rude when they prevent one from getting exactly what they feel entitled too.

Wow! Some people are a little snappy here...why?:confused3 I don't think the original poster meant to double book. Of course, there is a problem with people who take advantage of the ADR system but we're not the ones to fix it! To dis a fellow diser is horrible. Where is the Disney love?:rolleyes1

No kidding! OP, sorry the CM was so snarky. :flower3:

I really don't even understand all this ADR fuss. I have been to WDW a bajillion times over many many years and always book at least 2 table service meals/day, usually lunch and dinner - sometimes all three B,L, D - and have NEVER EVER had trouble getting ADRs - even fairly last minute. :confused3 Of course some like Chef Mickey's may not be available right when I want it, but there are plenty of other great options and I can usually get everything I want - maybe not exactly when I want it, but I get the ADRs. I wonder exactly WHO is having such difficulty booking meals? Really!!??!

Excuse me, but the OP double booked on the advice of the first CM that helped her to book her ADRs.
It makes me cringe when someone posts a problem on the board and posters tear into them like rottweilers. Newbies may not realize that it's not cool to double book. Instead of treating them like the dirt beneath your shoes, offer guidance and kindness.
Sometimes the people on the DIS are like those in Lake Wobegon:
"Welcome to Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average."
Or to paraphrase Jesus:before you talk about the splinter in your neighbor's eye, take the log out of yours.

I called last night to change some of my ADR and at some places there were no times left for the whole day and night. I am not going until the end of June so I was kind of surprised that some places were totally filled up. The hardest one to change was Chef Mickey's. My original time was 5:00 and I was trying to push it back just a little. The only time left for the whole night was 8:05 so I just took it. I was able to make some changes, but the CM told me right up front that my previous reservation was being cancelled and that I could not keep both, which I already knew anyway so I didn't care. She wasn't rude, but just very matter of fact. She did everything she could to help me. I also was trying to add two people to some of my reservations and that was almost impossible because of everything being booked totally. I never imagined that ADR were so hard to come by.

I agree that no one should be treated rude by any Cast Member, wheather it is on the phone or while in WDW. However I do agree that no one should double book ADR's, because it's not fair to others who are trying to do the same thing. So when people make the excuse that they don't know where they want to eat, then make one ADR which you are allowed and if you want to change it later on do that. I think one way to stop double bookings of ADR's is to change the 180 day booking date to something like 50 days away from your arrival date. This way guests can have more time to decide where they would like to eat, so there would less calls of guests always changing their ADR's and might cause less people to double book ADR's.

I don't know how to do a link to something on another board, but someone has started a thread on the Restaurant board about double booking. They were calling about their ADR and the CM told them they were double booked and had to cancel one of them. The CM also told them that Disney is getting ready to purge all double bookings.

and now I am really really scared!

I had to change our trip dates and have to redo all of my ADR and am wondering what reception that will receive when I call?

I better have my a , b, and c plan in order before I call I guess.

going in Sept. for Free Dining and already worried it will be hard to fit all the TS in . . .

If you can get me a table for 2 at PSB, any time, any day from May 3 to May 14, let me know. ;)

Last May, I didn't have any trouble getting in where I wanted at some point during our trip, and could get in most places same-day. It was a little harder last September, but I got everything I wanted. This time, I wasn't even able to get the earliest lunch seating for H&V, and it was a walk-up (with maybe a 5 minute wait for a table) throughout the lunch seating every day last fall.

Some places it's more difficult than others. Try getting a seating at 'Ohana less than a month out between 5:00 - 7:00PM.

So I called to check on my ADR's and change one for breakfast to lunch and the CM went over the rest of my ressie and noticed that I had two dinners booked for the same night.I was never told that you can't double book and have 24hrs to cancel one of them.Has anyone heard about this?So I told the CM that I would have to check with my DH and call back. She was very adamit about me changing them NOW.She told me I had to talk to guest services or she would make the choice for me so I hung up on her.2 minutes later I got a call from guess services saying that I had to cancel one of my ADR's I said that was fine I told the CM that I would do that I just wanted to talk to my DH.He said he would call me back in a few days to make sure that one was canceled.I didn't know that this was such a big deal so I just went ahead and canceled one while I was on the phone with him.I did mention how RUDE the CM and he said he would talk to her(not sure if he will though)So now I am all worried about my ADR's and did call and make sure they were still all there.I felt like I was being repermanded(sp?) for this.
Thanks for listening to me vent.
Laura

Unfortunately Laura, they are cracking down. Disney is having a great year and with the free dining I'm sure adr's at popular places during the peak eating times are becoming harder and harder to get and I know personally of a lot of folks who double book on purpose. They feel they have nothing to lose. I have a friend who will book an ADR at every park (with 20 mins of each other) because she never knows where she may end up. :scared1: drives me up the wall when she does this. I'm just glad that all the restaurants have not begun asking for cc numbers to hold spots, like cinderallas table or fantasmic dinner shows.

When do you go? Definitely not during free dining or during the summer. I went last August and I did have ADR's but a few times wanted to make a change, either change a restaurant because we were touring a different park or wanted to change the time. Nothing! especially in the park restaurants. Now we try to eat off hours. Late dinner ~7:00-7:30 pm. we have better luck then but our children are teenagers so it's a little easier.

I'm making my ADR's this weekend, and if I don't get what I want because some nimnul can't dedide and has doublebooked, can I just blame you? You're cheating some one with this that is going to try to book. What you are being is rude.

Wow, was that necessary? It really sounds like the DDP needs to end ASAP. It's causing WAY too much stress and taking away the last minute "discovery" aspect that makes vacations fun. The regular system they had before this one where you didn't actually make a "reservation", but you had a place "held" worked very well and they still took walk ins. I much prefer it to this system that shuts so many people out, except for those who know how to work the system far in advance. Walking around a park and finding a cute looking restaurant you have never been to and walking in to get on the waiting list is FUN on vacation. Finding a new nook, crannie, gift shop or place to eat is what a vacation IS. This is what makes magic for many families and apparently it's gone.

What happens to the people who make a reservation 180 days out and due to reasons beyond their control such as rain, illness, monorail, bus issues, crabby child or husband;) , etc...and they can't make their ONE pick from months earlier (When there are 4 parks available)? Does this make them SOL? .

I guess I just feel like being mean when it comes to this post.

My answer to the above quote is YES YES YES....You/they are then SOL as you put it. And will require counter service. Believe it or not...ITS NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!!! Multiple ADR's affect others as well. ONE ADR is all that should be allowed. Shame on anyone making two (or more), even if they plan to cancel.

For instance. Lets say I call 150 days in advance and want to eat someplace specific at a specific time. Your second (or third) ADR may be preventing me from getting the timeslot I would desire. Then...100 days later you do cancel (which many probably don't)...Would that be fair to my family? You canceled an ADR at the time that would of been best for us? Your rudeness by having multiple ADR's at the same time, affected others.

My friend who had been there once a few years ago and I took our sons for spring break this month and she kept saying that if it hadn't been for me she would have starved. She and her husband arrived early and spent the weekend there and they walked forever being turned away as walkins and ended up at fast foods each night. With the Magic Express bus, fewer people rent cars and therefore don't plan to leave the property. She had no idea about how "strict" the eating situation had become.
