Treasure Island Hotels?

TI is really a local type place, I don't know too much about a hotel but you could call Gulf Bay Realty about a condo rental. Their # is 727-360-6969... I used to work there and I know that they handle the rentals for Le Chateau (spelling?) and they are really cute condos.

Would it be better for us to stay at St. Petes or Madeira as mentioned in another post. Have 2 kids so want somewhere to occupy them too.

Have only been to Madeira beach for the day so don't know the area at all.

Any good hotel suggestions anywhere here appreciated.

The Holiday Inn was fine when I stayed there in'95. as Upscale a holiday inn as they get. it's on the beach. The restaurant is on the top floor. great views

I meant that it was a local type place meaning that it was nice and laid back. Clearwater Beach is a lot of fun but there is a little too much commercial hustle and bustle for me to do more than spend an evening there once in a while.
There is stuff to keep them occupied such as shopping and eating at John's Pass, Mini Golfing, shell collecting, water trikes (not sure if that is really what they are called, parasailing, and the Treasure Island Fun Center (big arcade).

Just a warning about Treasure Island if you're looking for powder soft sand this isn't the beach to go to. We spent 2 nights there this past February and the beach was all broken shells. We couldn't walk barefoot in the sand. We were really disappointed. We stayed at the Thunderbird motel and I really wouldn't recommend it. The bathroom was old and outdated and not very clean. I'd get some other suggestions about some better beaches if I were you. I'm sure there are alot of people here on the DIS who could help you out.

Thanks JennSaint.

Have visited Madeira Beach and that was lovely. How about St. Pete beach?

We will already be spending a couple of days at Cocoa Beach (booked into the Holiday Inn Express - anyone stayed there?) and were looking for somewhere on the Gulf other than Clearwater for a couple of days, which we could use as a base to go to Busch also.

I agree to some extent with JennSaint. However, Florida is not Hawaii and Shuttle Fan was looking for shell collecting, right?
If you liked Mad. Beach, you will also like TI. They are within walking distance of each other really. St. Pete Beach is nice, but I feel that it is very commercialized. That again is a very short drive South from Mad. Beach and TI (10 min.).
I am sure that you will have a great time wherever you go.

Thanks Taramom. Shell collecting is a must and we loved Madeira Beach last year, so I think we'll settle for either here or Treasure Island. Will probably depend on the hotel we book.

Thanks again for all your help.
