Travelscoot or Smartscoot

I'm wondering if it can be leaned against the car, and then pivoted in. I currently have a Go Go Travel Elite, and supposedly the heaviest piece weighs "just" 25 pounds. I can barely lift that much, so since the Travel Scoot weighs over 30 pounds, I can't see how I could possibly lift that. Too bad-it really looks promising.

You can easily remove the battery and seat. That will shave the weight

From their site

Remember that it can be reduced to 22.5 lbs easily by removing the front wheel with the push of a button. You can also lift one end of the scooter into your vehicle at a time, reducing the weight even further.

THE SCOOTER HAS MANUAL BRAKES similar to a bicycle.

Edited to add I think 22.5 lbs is without the seat, battery and front wheel.

I have one that I used on a recent trip. I have the hard plastic seat that I added a cushion to. It was ok, but I've ordered the new deluxe seat cushion, which I think is now the standard one instead of the plastic one. (I haven't received the new one yet.)

AK was fine, and I didn't have much trouble with the bumps. For some reason, I had more trouble with the new Star Wars area in HS.

Anyway, the TravelScoot was great through the whole trip. It was definitely a game-changer. I can lift it into a vehicle fully assembled. (It's about 35 pounds.) It definitely made the whole trip more enjoyable. And I didn't have to wait for a wheelchair in the airport, nor did I have to do a meet and greet with a scooter vendor. Both of those things were a significant improvement.

I wouldn't hesitate to go to Disney with one. My battery indicator never went below two bars. We probably did 6 to 8 miles a day. I have an extra battery, but I haven't needed to use it yet.
Another Travelscoot owner here. I've had B.B. for over 5 years, and she has been a lifesaver. I gave in and got her just a few weeks before my husband had unexpected major cardiac surgery. He was in a large hospital and rehab center for almost 4 months, and I wa able work each day and then visit him. Couldn't have done it without the help (I have COPD).

We now live in Florida, very close to WDW. There have been few, if any, barriers to my ability to get around. (Other than the able people who seem to think that scooters are invisible). Probably the biggest challenge for you will be learning to "drive" at a whole new level of defensive driving.

Cast members have been wonderful with one exception. Spaceship Earth has a handicapped entrance, but there is still a fairly long, inclined ramp to get to the load/unload area and you have to transfer. Which would be fine but I can't propel the manual chair up the ramp (COPD) and my husband and son are also handicapped (rollator and another scooter) so they're no help though they can walk up the ramp. The last time I tried SE, the people in the loading area refused to help me down because according to them, my "party" could do it. I was so embarrassed I cried. I felt unwelcome, unwanted and very much a burden.

I'm so sorry for you that that happened. Can you get your Travelscoot in and out of the car by yourself?

Yes I can. It's a different breathing pattern standing in one place and lifting. And, when it reaches that point, I can lift the front of BB into the back and then lift the back and wheel it in. (and in reverse). I initially freaked at the cost, but she's been worth every cent.

Thanks! That makes it even more, much more of a consideration. Right now, though, I'm at the "freaking out at the cost" stage. Maybe it will pass.

Sorry, nope it won't pass. I look at it now as the bargain I got because like everything else it just gets more expensive! I'm hoping that BB will outlast me. Don't even consider that a possibility for the "cheap" Handyscoot we got for my son. It is adequate for fairly light use, but doesn't feel sturdy and wouldn't even think about entrusting it to baggage on a plane, whereas I took the Autotrain with BB.

I’m trying the Golden CarryOn GB120 scooter on my next Disney trip. What I like about it versus the TravelScoot is the brakes work like my Go-Go Sport and it can be used one-handed like the Go-Go, as well. I need something lighter to load than the Go-Go which has gotten too heavy for me to dead lift the pieces

You realize that it is 50 pounds as opposed to the 34-ish weight of the Travelscoot. They made a big deal about being able to "roll" it into the trunk, but this is also easy to do with the Travelscoot. Its listed maximum weight is also a little less. Didn't look to see battery cost or expected mileage per charge, so won't opine about that except to say I ran out of battery once in 6 years on BB---because I left her on for several days in the car!
I certainly understand wanting to stay with the familiar, just wanted to point out the weight difference. I can handle BB, but don't think I could handle 50 pounds especially down the road.

When leveraging the Carryon GB120 foldable scooter into the car, it’s only about 20-25 lbs when you separately lift each end. I am concerned with not having auto braking and one handle use or I would consider the TravelScoot.

Just a hint. When you load the way we've described, be sure to have something covering the bumper and platform you're using to load. We found out the hard way that it's really easy to chip the paint... Can't definitely blame BB because we're one of THOSE families when we're at the park (two scooters and a rollator!) but I'm ppretty sure it's her. I now have a thin cotton quilt down in the back that I fold out to cover the bumper.
