Also make sure there are no cancellation fees or other Change fees that Travelocity may impose. I know some of those companies will not let you chnage or cancel a ressie.
JUST READ A POST ON THE NEXT PAGE BACK THAT WARNED ABOUT USING TRAVELOCITY. THEY SAID TO CHECK WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU BEFORE USING THEM... I'VE USED THEM FOR HOTEL ROOMS ONCE AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS BUT THAT'S A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT THAN THE EXPENSE OF A CRUISE. I'LL TRY AND FIND THE POST AGAIN.
I was the one that posted about Travelocity. I usually check the background of a company before I use them but I figured that they're such a huge company that they must be "above board" and honest. No such luck. Their cancellation and change policy states that changes can be made to a hotel reservation up to 48 hours in advance for $20. When I tried to change my reservation, which was 3 nights at $267 per night, they told me they were going to charge me the $20 fee PLUS change the per night charge to $515. I read them there own policy off the website and they didn't care. He said that was company policy and if I didn't like it I could cancel. I canceled and booked with another company, but I have since found out from the Better Business Bureau that it can take up to 6 months for me to get my original $800+ dollars back if I get it back at all. I would NEVER use them again. Here's a link to Consumer Affairs that details some other folks who've had problems http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/travelocity.html
When I went on my first Disney cruise, I decided to go through a local TA to get better service since I was a bit unsure of what was involved with cruising at that time. My parents, sister, and her two kids booked two rooms through Travelocity. They ended up getting gift baskets in their room from Travelocity with no complications at all. I, on the other hand, got a TA who tried to scam me out of a transfer (long story), gave me no "extra" service, no gift basket, and I paid quite a bit more! Never again! I have since booked through Travelocity myself and also Cruise.com. I prefer Cruise.com but I wouldn't hesitate to book through Travelocity if the price was right!
