I thought the UO site guaranteed the lowest rate. Was I dreaming that? :confused3 The dates I checked in Nov. are much cheaper on Travelocity than on Universal's site. Does that happen often?

I wonder if they will match?

I booked my trip for September in July thru Travelocity, I noticed that all the UO hotels were cheaper than the the Universal website. They also had a $100 off promo code for Orlando stays 4-6 nights. I ended up getting the roundtrip flights I wanted from Chicago with 4 nights at Doubletree for $810. This is for a family of 4! Driving and staying in Wisconsin Dells would have cost more. One secret I learned is to select your hotel, return to the previous page and hit "change room type". Then change room type and reprice. Then select the room you want and reprice again. Often it will give you a lower rate. Play around with it a bit. I came across this just by accident. The price doesn't always reduce but it did save me an extra $60.

Can't wait to go!!! By the way are the crowds heavy on weekends in Sept.?

Heads Up though for those who value their LoewsFirst points. I have been told by LoewsFirst that booking through Travelocity, Expedia or any third party including some Universal rates, makes the rate a nonqualifying rate for LoewsFirst points.

Although, I don't think they are really that strict about it, if you don't want to take the chance, you may want to check with LoewsFirst (1-800-loews11) before you purchase if building LoewsFirst points are important to you.

Since the Loewshotels.com website says they guarantee the lowest rates, I would definitely give them a call and see if they will match it.

Interesting! :scratchin I don't know if they price match or not. I'll have to give them a call.

Operamom,
Is it the Travelocity or Universal site that will sometimes give you a different rate, if you play around with it?

Its the Travelocity site. Good luck!

Just for fun I checked out November as if I would be going for 4 nights for 4 people from Chicago. All prices include airfare and hotel. I don't think that you can fiddle around with hotel only, like I did.

The Waterview King at RPR comes up as $1709. Playing around with it I got it down to $1570 for the same exact package.

HRH 2 queen garden room went from $1556 to $1430.

Portofino 2 queen Bay view from$1663 to 1528.

If you don't care about loew's points or whatever it is I say try it out.

This is my first trip to Universal and second to Florida, maybe I'll become addicted. Can't wait until Sept.21. The problem is it always ends too quickly.

Hope this helps.

I think you'll enjoy UO. Where are you staying? Are you onsite or at one of the partner hotels? I know what you mean about it going by so fast. I think planning is almost more fun than the trip is. Planning builds excitement. When the trip is over, it's such a downer. For years, our trips have been 2 weeks at a time. It doesn't seem like the time flies by so fast. Unfortunately, you have longer between trips. We're now experimenting with taking more short getaways instead. So far, the jury's out on which we like better. :teeth:

We live in Tampa, so we don't need airfare. I'll see if it works for room only. It doesn't hurt to try. :)

Thanks Tarheel for your reply! We will be staying at Doubletree Universal Sept21-25 (Thurs-Mon). I got a $40 per night rate with my travelocity deal. Had we stayed at RPR it would have cost us $400 more.

I know not having fotl won't be a problem weekdays, but I can't seem to get any response about the weekend. My guidebook says that weekends are busy due to local specials, but will there be really long lines? I ask this because my son wants to go to Wet N Wild and I'm trying to decide if we should do it Fri or Sun. Thurs and Monday will be shortened days due to flying. Any opinions? Any Wet N Wild discounts anyone?

Thanks alot!!! 39 Days to go............................

Just so you know...Liberty Travel has a price matching policy that even if it's a price directly from the hotel's website that Liberty Travel beats the price if it is more then theirs. I'm actually a TA for them and I price match a lot...keeps everyone happy!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for posting this. I just checked my dates and the price was about $50 less per day. Gonna talk it over with hubby and then book through Travelocity tomorrow. I think they made a mistake because the rate they are quoting is for a 4 night stay but we're only staying for 2 nights....hey their loss is my gain. :goodvibes

Just an FYI, I called RPR today and they adjusted my rate down $35 a night. Since I would have had to prepay with Travelocity and now don't, I'm a happy woman. :thumbsup2

I booked about a week ago. We're still undecided if we're going to go over Thanksgiving or Christmas. If we decide on Christmas instead, I'll be sure to check multiple sites. Incidentally, Travelocity is now the same rate as the Universal site, which is a higher rate than we originally booked with. The Travelocity rate has gone up $56/ night, since my OP.
