We're supposed to fly out of BWI (if snowpocalypse v2.0 doesn't ruin everythign) on Thursday a.m. I need to bring a nebulizer (compressor) and Medela Pump In Style breast pump. Are they going to look suspicious, and does anyone have any idea how to best pack them? Should I put them in checked bags or bring them in a carry on? I don't anticipate *needing* either of them immediately so it's okay if they're checked.

Thanks!

Never, ever check medical equipment, regardless of whether you will need them immediately or not. DH flies with a CPAP machine. I know in Philly and in Orlando, there are special security lines for passengers with medical equipment. Go in that line. DH packs all of the CPAP parts in ziploc bags, but there are in the carrier with the machine.

Wow, good to know. I will put them both in my carry on. I've never had to travel with either, but I was just hospitalized for an asthma attack and don't want to take any chances. Thanks for the advice!

My daughter brought a nebulizer, 2 inhalers an epi-pen and various other meds for her husband and daughter when we traveled to WDW last September. She put all of those items in a back pack which was her carry on and told security what was in the bag at the checkpoint. No problem, they did look pretty carefully through the bag.

One trip I had a CPAP machine and went throught the regular lines. My last flights I had syringes and meds (not insulin!) that I carried on. The TSA people know what legit medical equipment and supplies (including breast pumps) look like.
