Hi,

So my husband and I are taking our DD 2 ( or at least she will be 2) for her first trip to the world and we are super excited :) September 18th for 2 wks we are staying at OKW and have the DDP. My hubby and I have been to the world many times before but as it's our first time being parents and travelling with our little beauty we just wondered what are your must do's for little ones at this age?

Think I'd better get myself a new ticker :0)

TIA
Nicci

We ave taken our twins three times now, 23 months, just before three and then again last year and they turned four

Parks with kids is a whole different ball game :-) alot slower but so nice to see their faces. I would do character meals so they see them without alot of queues.

Also if you noth like rides the ride swaps are great

We are taking ours back again thisyear too :-)

Okw is great and has a great playground and sand for them to play, ours lovedit there

Our DD was 14 months when we first went and didn't like the characters at first, but as soon as she got used to them loved to go up to them. So maybe book any character meals later in the holiday just in case :goodvibes

Also, she loved playing in the water at the water parks where they have water squirting up, and we went on the smaller rides in the parks and saw the animals at AK, she even sat and watched Lion King. The electrical parade at MK was also a hit.

It is such a different experience, they are happy just wandering around with you, playing on the grass or at the resort so you might not get on as many rides but more enjoy the atmosphere and different experience. Use the baby care centres for a nice sit down and to change your DD. :thumbsup2

Hi - we took our dd on the day she turned 1 & she loves it! Happily walked up to all the characters for pictures & joined in the parades at the character meals.

We are taking her again in may when she'll have just turned 3 & as we have the ddp we have planned lots of character meals. We intend to use fp+ to make sure we don't have to queue too long for things she will enjoy. We will also have plenty of pool time in the afternoons.

The main difference when travelling with a little one is the speed you do things. We just take our time & if we don't see it we have an excuse to book another holiday ;-)

It's magical with a little one though!! I can't wait :-)

We took our eldest daughter at 15 months and 19 months and both times she enjoyed it, I'd try and bring things on the plane to keep her amused with the long flight, though I'm sure she will have a sleep. I have just booked now to take our youngest daughter she will be 17 months when we go and as others have said to see it through your children's eyes is superb. I will always remember my daughters first Mickey premium ice cream, all over her little face. I think are must do's was anything she was big enough to get on, to take out time and just enjoy our first family holiday to the world. Hope you have a great time.

I'm interested to know this as well, planning to take our little boy in May 2015 when he will be about 18 months. Any must do's for this age, what rides will he be able to do?

I took my LO in Oct just gone and he was 16 months. As previous posters have said its different but amazing!

My LO loved characters from the start, interestingly he didn't really like the face characters but loved all the others! He went on every ride that didn't have a height restriction, even haunted mansion, if he liked it it got a round of applause - we didn't find much he didn't like! We missed some of the longer shows as I wasn't sure he'd sit still long enough. Disney Jnr live in stage would be a must do as would the meal at Hollywood & Vine for the Disney Jnr characters.

My LO was really good at napping in his pushchair and flexible to staying up late for Fantasmic, MSEP etc. he also loved the pools and water parks.

It was an amazing trip, to see his face light up and him clapping his hands as we approached MK was priceless. he shouts Yay and claps when he sees the advert on TV too now!

I took lots of toys for the flight, I wrapped them up to make them a little more interesting but the he loved the most was the toothbrush from the amenity kit!

You'll have an amazing time - I can't wait to take him back!

:goodvibes Thanks all for the lovely replies we are really looking forward to taking things easy this time as you say and enjoying our first of many family holidays.

Think I will have to start getting a flexible plan together and meal ideas.:woohoo:

thanks again!

Thanks for that Poppyberry sounds like you had an amazing time my LO sounds the same preferring the toothbrushes over toys lol.

have any of you ladies by any chance done any trip reports, I'd love to read them?

We have been taking our DD since she was 9 months.

She has always ridden all the rides she was able too and loved it. I think at 2 she was tall enough for Goofys Barnstormer as well - yes she is very tall so that may not apply (she is now 48" at 5.5!)

She liked autographs and especially the fur characters - princesses where hit or miss until about 3.

Never had an issue with her on the plane although she has never napped on the outbound flight apart from at 9 months. She is excellent though and will sit and play in her seat. When she was younger I used to buy the colour wonder sets plus some small toys and she had an iPad to keep her amused.

By making sure she had a good afternoon nap she has always stayed up for all the evening fireworks etc.

Love taking her and watching her change it's amazing :goodvibes
