So my grandson will be under 2 for our trip and eats most table foods. If we have free dining will his meals be covered too. . . do we order him kids meals?

Dining plan entitlements for kids start at age 3. Children under 3 do not get any meal credits. Note that you can "upgrade" your child to be listed as 3 instead of 2 but this requires buying a minimum 2-day child's park ticket, and so any cost savings would be eaten up by the ticket.

You are allowed to use food you get on plan to feed your toddler. Under-3s are also free (dining plan or no) at buffets/AYCE/family-style/dinner shows. Elsewhere, if necessary, you can order additional food OOP for your child.

You can share with him, but if you order him kids meals you'll need to pay for them.

He'd eat free at all buffets, all you can eat family style, fixed price restaurants and dinner shows.

We took my DS when he was 2, and just fed him off my plate (and brought granola bars, etc, for breakfasts). At Tutto Italia, the waitress offerred him a free kids meal, which was a nice offer! We didn't take her up on it though, b/c he was such a light eater that it would have been a waste.

Enjoy your trip!!

We did free dining when DD was two. We were there for four nights and two TS of our meals were buffets - CP and CM. We were allowed to make a plate for her and they even provided her with milk, which I was prepared to pay for, but was no charge. Our other two meals were WP (she fell asleep on the way there so we ended up getting her a Happy Meal from McDs after) and Les Chefs, where she didn't like what we were having so we ordered her a kids' meal and paid OOP.

I took my LO at just over two. I always had plenty of food to feed her off my plate.

I only order a kids meal once for my FIVE year old and we had plenty of food. Remember you get a dessert too, and you have a snack credit. You will have plenty to share.

My son is a big eater and for the most part, he was still okay to share my meal with me. At Buffets we were able to get him a plate, but at sit down or Counter Service, he ate part of my meal and we always got him a milk and DH and I shared a drink. Always had extra food at the end. The only meal we bought for him was breakfast because I just ate toast and PB and my husband needs his own meal!

Does he have a park key card or is he claimed as free. Because he will be under age 3 he should be free in Disney World, and its sounds like he is.. but because he is under 3 he won't get a free dining plan unless you purchased him park tickets as well. You can though, purchase him a dining plan which wouldn't be to bad considering what you are saving for the members that did get the Free Dining promo OR you can have the resturants split your meals you purchase for your grandson and yourself. Or you may purchase his meal seperate and pay for it seperate at each meal which would also be inexpensive.
