Travelling to Universal from WDW - Rental Car vs. Taxi

I'm planning a trip to WDW later this year where we'll be staying on-site and using the Magical Express shuttle service to and from the airport. However, we have annual passes to Universal and would like to use them on one day.

Has anyone ever been faced with this? Should I take a cab? Would that be expensive? Should I rent a car for one day? Can I rent one on-site in WDW?

A cab will cost about $30-$40 each way for up to 5 people. I believe you can rent a car onsite at WDW. You might be able to find a compact for $30-$40.

the mears shuttle which wil pick you up at your hotel and drop you at city walk is $14 per person rt.

call the day before to reserve your seat with mears.
you have to select a return time of two choices they have to return to disney
