Travelling from DL to USH

Hello! I've read that the drive from DL during USH can be rotten during the week. We'd been thinking of breaking up our week at DL with a day at USH, but we don't want to feel like we spent a lot of our day in traffic (we could do something else).

I know the traffic in LA is brutal and probably unpredictable. Any thoughts on how long is takes to get from DL to USH (we'll take a shuttle as we won't have no other need for a rental car)?

There's a scheduled free shuttle to UNIV if you buy full -priced Universal tickets. I think it leaves at 8am and 10am. The 8am arrives Universal around 9:15 and the 10am arrives Universal around 11am. If there is an accident on the freeway you could be stuck for a while, you never know.
