We are spending 7 days at the Hojo in late August. We are still on the fence about how many Disney days we will do but we want to do one other park: Knotts or LEGOLAND (but I know that’s considerably further)

We will not have a car, we have THREE (😅😅😅) kids who need car seats.

How do I get there?

Back in the before times there used to be a coach company that picked up from hotels, went to a central depot and then did day trips to Universal, Knotts, etc. I can’t find anything like that anymore.

I see there is a public bus - has anyone done that recently? Is it fairly reliable?

Is the best option just to rent a car or book a shuttle with car seats? I would typically just Uber but even if we bring car seats would there be a place to stash them while we are at the park?

Any ideas?

Three car seats? Are we talking full car seats or are any of the three boosters? Will you have the car seats with you or do you need them supplied for the ride?

As far as Knott’s vs Legoland, I’m thinking Legoland would have more to offer three car seat aged kids. And yes, it would be a longer drive.

Assuming you do have the three necessary car seats with you, I’d just rent a car the day prior and use it to make the drive to Legoland.

https://rideart.org/ is the local bus system. it does go to knott's in Buena Park from disneyland and back. There are other buses in the system that stops at many hotels as well in Anaheim. I never did take it with small children who need car seats, so can't speak to that, but it is pretty reliable.

Renting your own car with 3 children who need car seats does seem the best bet.

I usually just use Uber/Lyft, but that isn't really an option for you. I'm guessing driving yourself would work best. Knott's does have Snoopy land for the little ones and it is a very popular space.

I’d think a shuttle or even like a black car / limo service (that provides car seats) to knotts would be cheaper than renting a car for 7 days just to use it once. But if you’re going to do a couple trips, then rent a car for sure!

Full car seats or bubble seats?

We will have 2.5 year old twins in forward facing car seats and a four year old who is still in a car seat but could probably get away with a booster.

I can choose to bring car seats on the plane. But I can also choose to just hire airport transport that provides car seats.

Basically my decision about the side trips we take determines the car seats - if we bus to Knotts I won’t bring them. If we rent a car I will!

Legoland is going to have way more to do for your aged children. Most of the rides at Knotts have at minimum 40” height requirements… my youngest is 46” and there are still many rides she can’t do. Buena Park is also hot and miserable in August. Legoland is in Carlsbad and is much closer to the water, and the weather will be much more pleasant and your kids will have more to do, plus they have a waterpark.

I would rent a car and either bring car seats or rent them.
