My family and our friends (4 adults, 2 kids) are going to Orlando next year (our third time, friends first!) We had decided to stay one week I-Drive and one week All star Movies! After seeing some fantastic pictures on another site recommended by one of this forums members (thank you) we're now not sure we could bare to drag ourselves away from this fantastic looking hotel, so here lies our dilemma: We had decided not to drive - hence the option of staying in two different areas. My Husband and i are non-drivers so didn't want to have to put the pressure on our friends (it could also be a problem if any of us wanted to do our own thing!) Is it possible to get to Universal, IOA and Seaworld from Disney Resort or would it be a complete hassle!?!? :earsgirl:

you can take a cab, or arrange through Mears, or other van companies to get a ride. We have used a cab when we want to go from the resorts to Universal or Seaworld. Cost about 50-60 for 4 people. There are always cabs waiting outside the parks to take you back.

I am going in September this year and staying on Disney property for our whole trip. Originally, I thought about renting a car and/or switching hotels to something smaller and closer to Universal when we go there at the end of our trip. But, after some research, I've decided, since we're flying into MCO, to use Disney's Magical Express from the airport to our Disney hotel when we arrive. Then, we are going to rent a car for the two days we're heading to Universal. You can rent cars on Disney property at the Swan or Dolphin (can't remember which) and something called the WDW Travel Center from Avis and National. I figured this would be easier than changing hotels, taking a cab, or arranging shuttle service. Then we'll either return the car at WDW and take Magical Express back to MCO when we leave, or return it at the airport.

Could you please tell me what the Magical Express Service is? I've seen it mentioned on here and other sites a few times but don't know what it is? Is it available in UK? :earsgirl:

Disney Magical Express (which you can do a search for in this forum) is a bus service that they used to only offer to Disney Cruise guests. Starting this month, if you're staying on Disney property, you can arrange to have Disney pick you up at Orlando Internation Airport by motor coach. They'll pick up your baggage to and transport it with you directly to your hotel. Then when you leave, they will handle you luggage for you again so you don't have to worry about it, and they drive you to the airport. The service is complimentary for Disney hotel guests.
