I was going to take a small amount of cash then just withdraw money from my Nationwide account. Given the present exchange rate and the fact I go in just over a fortnight I was thinking of buying some Travellers Cheques. Travelex are offering Thomas Cook Travellers cheques for £1= $1.83 this morning. Last time I was in the States I had no problems cashing my Amex TC's but am just wondering are the Thomas Cook one's welcome at all places practically as AMEX is? I don't want to end up with a fistfull of dollars that means a visit to a bank to exchange them!

hi
we used travelex last time and had the travellers cheques. we had no problems using them at all.

also forgot to say, as we bought them using dh's credit card then all the cheques had to be in his name....

Thanks Netty, I did assume there'd be accepted just like AMEX one's are but just wanted to make sure as I didn't want to have to find a bank.
