I'll be travelling with my 3 year old and I am planning on using Disney transportation and therefore not taking a car seat along. The thought of riding buses is a little scary to me and just wanted to ask y'all about safety and how you feel about this subject as well. I'd also like to take a taxi to dinner a few nights but again, am not sure I could because I wouldn't feel safe. What do you all do?

We travelled with our daughter last year when she had just turned 4 and she is small for her age. We had no problem with the buses. I don't think my daughter ever had to stand. People always seemed to let children sit. I don't no about taxis though. Good luck!!

I am not sure about the Disney buses, but we have preschoolers riding buses for school--the bus company says that the seats are partially designed to help in an accident...however I am not sure about and have never been on the disney buses. I am traveling with my 1 year old and 5 year old, without carseats. I personally would opt not to take a taxi, but that has more to do with my 1 year old than my 5 year old.

We took my son when he just turned 4 but is a little short for his age. He did just fine on the busses. Most of the time he had his own seat (always next to me or DH) but therer were a few times he had to sit on our laps. I honestly don't know how we could have managed if we had to take the carseat onto the busses.

Taxis generally will have a carseat in the trunk that can be used. The busses, including ME, don't have seatbelts so there isn't anyway to install a carseat. I had no problems with having my DD on the buses without a carseat at age 3.

ew went the last two years, DD was 2 and 3. We had no problems. We only rode Disney transportion for the most part, but the firt year we did rent a van as well to get us from Sanford. We got a gvan with the carseat built in. We never felt unsafe, but each person has different views on that too.

We have traveled to Disney twice without carseats..but we don't do taxi, just the Disney buses. I don't think I would do taxi without carseat....if we had planned to do taxi, we would take both carseats with us.

You cannot use a carseat on Disney transport. There are no seat belts so cannot be installed. Buses use compartmentalization to keep passengers safe.

If you do plan on taking a taxi, you need to take your carseat with you. It is NOT normal practice for a taxi to keep a carseat in the trunk. There are some taxi's that do have carseats, but you need to make arrangements in advance. I personally would not use a carseat provided by a taxi. You do not know the history of the seat, if it's been in an accident, if it will end up being the right fit for your child. It is not safe to transport a child in a vehicle without a carseat.

So, if you plan on taking a taxi to dinner, I would bring your carseat along with you. Otherwise, just take the busses. They can get you pretty much anywhere you need to go.

thanks for your responses! I feel much better about the disney busses and will avoid taxis :)
