Traveling with unrelated teen

We are taking DS friend with us this year for the first time

what do we need to board plane, etc? copy of birth certificate needed?
do you bring copy of his insurance card or power of attorney etc?

When my kids travel without me (fairly often) I always send with a Power of Attorney, copy of all insurance information and depending on the age of the child a state id or birth certificate. Very rarely do they need any of that info, but it is better to have and not need than need and not have.

You need nothing. I would probably get a copy of their insurance card. But that's about it. If there is a medical issue that is not an emergency, they will try to get in touch with the parents. If its a medical emergency, they will treat regardless.

I didn't do this for Disney but did it for Universal.

We flew our two nephews from Maine to FL without an adult. We had their parents write up a letter saying that we could make medical decisions for them if the parents could not be reached - followed by the numbers to try the parents at. We did not have their insurance cards, but that wouldn't be a bad idea. If you're flying domestically, you won't need anything on the plane for them. If you are flying from one country to another, then that's different.

Just have them bring their medical insurance card. They don't need anything else.

Yikes DS has been to disney many times but not sure how much to let them roam lol. I think he'll have different ideas than me!

You dont need to use an attorney for a POA. You can just google search POA for kids and it will pull up. Then you can have it notarized by your bank normally. They are easy to create and easy to use.
