Hi Everyone,

I've just put down a deposit on a January trip with my 4 year old niece to DW. Will I need to bring a letter of some sort from my sister (her mom) saying it's ok for her to fly with me? I don't want to get to the airport and get a big surprise. I should probably also have something written up saying it's ok to have her treated incase of a medical problem, right? I did that years ago when I traveled to Italy with a friends 16 year old daughter, and luckily we never needed it. LOL But I didn't have anything saying it was ok for her to travel with me and nobody ever questioned, but she also had her own passport. My niece obviously doesn't have any ID of her own, so I'm not sure if they'll give me a hard time since we have different last names.

Thanks for the help!!

hi, we have traveled pre- and post-9/11 with our three neices and one nephew (domestically) to WDW on three seperate trips and have never been asked for ID for any of them. They also have different last names than us. Getting some sort of note from at least one parent is a good idea though for both traveling and medical needs, and have it notorized (we have had docs notorized at The UPS Store for $5/ea). hth and have a great trip!

Thanks for the response!! To be on the safe side I'll get both a note for travel and a note for medical emergencies. I have a friend who is a notary (the same friend whose daughter I took to Italy with me LOL) so I shouldn't have a problem having both letters notarized.

Thanks again for your help. :)

I travel frequently with my DNeph (8) and have never been asked for ID when flying. I carry a copy of his birth certificate, copy of DSis's insurance card and notarized authorization from her giving me permission to seek medical care for him if needed. Have a great trip !

Never thought about getting a copy of her insurance card, that's a really good idea. I'll have to make sure she gets me a copy of that. Thanks for the advice!! I'm starting to get really excited about the trip. :)

MareSINY,

I take my Dniece and Dnephew with us every year. Never needed anything for travel but I did have to take them to the doctor one year and they would not have treated them without the notarized letter and copy of the insurance card.

I always take my Dniece to Afternoon Tea at the GF. We have a great time, just the girls and it has become a tradtion every year for us to go.

Enjoy your trip

BTW, is the SINY = STaten Island New York. If yes, I am from there too!
