With my girl Scouts coming to WDW, I thought the Interest Patch "Dollars and Sense" kinda made sense for them to earn! And one of the requirements reads like this:

"When people travel, they need to plan for all thier expences plus emergency funds. "Wiring" for money should be used only in emergencies. Brainstorm with other traveling Girl Scouts the best ways to access funds while traveling. Comapre the advantages and disadvantages of credit cards, debit cards, traveler's checks, cahs and other methods of traveling with and accessing money while away from home".

So, duing the next troop meeting I thought about a short presentation about credit cards (wasn't there a commercial that told if you only paid the minimum payment on $_____ that it would take ____years to pay off??) and the hidden horrors, about how to use debit cards and what travelers check look like and what the costs of each would be. (Disney Dollars are, of course, free!!)

Can anyone come up with other money ideas or where to look for additional resources?

You've already touched on traveler's checks, but you might want to add that if you are traveling to a country which doesn't use US currancy, to purchase those checks in local currency.

Also when traveling internationally, how to get the best exchange rate. As an FYI, it's generally by using an ATM card to withdraw funds in local currency. Exchange counters at airports and in hotels are generally terrible with the exchange.
