DH, DD9, me and DD's grandmother(70's) are going to be going to US/IOA and Sea World over our vacation in a couple weeks. Last time we were at US/IOA, we didn't pay much attention to what rides are more "calm" that DG could go on. Do you have any suggestions? Also, are the shows any good? DH & I didn't get to see any while we were there.

I have to ride the calmer rides and I plan to do everything except for the big roller coasters. Depending on health, she should be able to ride everything she wants to. My DG was 86 when she died and still rode the big roller coasters up until the summer before she died. She was a roller coaster fanatic - just loved them!

if your gma doesn't mind not the typical type of shows, maybe she would enjoy horrow make up show.

beetlejuice is the show that is basically singing. beetlejuice is the main character that talks and leads the group into numbers of rock and roll type of music. others are frankenstien, bride of franky, phantom of the opera, wolfman, etc.

animal planet is a spin off show of the tv one. it's entertaining with some audience participation.

at ioa you can see sinbad, which has stunts involved.
poisedon adventure which is walking through the different cavern rooms for the show. all other shows the audience has seats or bleachers to sit on.

maybe gma would like fear factory???
well, it is a show........

i think the shows there are very good (we were surprised!)

If Grandma is in good health, she could ride most anything....(watch the spinny rides tho)....but we don't know what she likes, or her current state of health.....

My mother (mid 70's) has gone with us on our last few trips. She hates all kinds of rides, especially if they spin at all and has a severe case of spinal stenosis, so she really can only ride the tamest of the tame.

The only ride she goes on is Jaws and the Suess trolley and forces herself just for the grandkids. But she loves all the shows and goes to everyone of them with us (except Barney - we don't do that one  .)

Her passion is to be the "bag lady", sit on a bench, people watch and take care of our bags so we don't have to find a locker. She just really enjoys spending time with the family and doesn't mind sitting out when we hit the rides. And with FOTL, it doesn't take forever to get in line, ride and come back out. So if your DG is anywhere between being able to ride everything like some or more like my mother that can't ride anything, there should still be plenty to do to keep her entertained and having fun.

Thanks for the help! She is definitely not the "bag lady" type. She informed us at Easter that she had plenty of "bounce in her step" :goodvibes She doesn't like spinning rides or anything too rough. I was wondering about Spiderman. Sounds really neat, but is it really rough?

I don't think so....there is only one real spin and it's only about 3 times.....i wouldn't miss the whole ride just for that! Take her....let her experience it...it's awesome! :charac4: :3dglasses

Spiderman is very dizzy. How about ET? can she sit on little bike like seats, its very mellow and really cool ride. Can she stand for a period of time, she might really like Twister. No movement at all, you view it. Jaws is mellow if sdhe can climb in and out of a boat.

US sounds like there is more stuff for her. We will just have to go slow and test it. I'm thinking of going to US first - trying some of the 3-D rides and see how she does with that. We are staying in Daytona, so I don't want to do anything that might make her sick while we are there.
