Traveling with a overly-picky vegetarian?

OK, so my husband and I just booked our 4th trip TODAY for our first anniversary (go us!)

There's just one thing that I'm hoping to achieve with this trip that I'm hoping you all can help me with!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE food, and I like to try all different places, BUT my husband is probably the pickiest eater of them all! (He's a vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables!)

Usually, our trips are pretty much the same, breakfast at the hotel's food court he will usually get a Mickey waffle and some tea, for lunch, we'll utilize a counter-service meal, depending on the park, it's a veggie burger or some fries, a pizza or an apple and dinner will almost always go a little something like this:

Magic Kingdom, Tony's (Spaghetti w/Marinara or Tomato Sauce) or the Plaza (Veggie Burger, plain w/french fries) and for me, last time I think I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs?

Epcot, Alfredo's (RIP), Tutto Italia (Spaghetti.....again or Gnocchi (I forget if they have this? We've only been here once).), Teppan Edo (I'm not kidding when I say all he ate was rice) and for me, I was very happy with my filet mignon and shrimp!

MGM, Sci-Fi or 50s PTC (Veggie Burger.......again) and for me, I usually get the short ribs at the Sci Fi or Fried Chicken at the PTC

So you see what I'm getting at? To get an idea of what/where/when I'm going to make our Dinner reservations, I'm asking the masses. Where else would you suggest we go that would be something that would interest or satisfy both of us?

I know Le Cellier has cheddar cheese soup, but would we be able to get it without bacon? Does anyone know if this is possible? Or of any other menu items that we could get the meat simply omitted? I really want to go there, and I'm really excited about maybe going to Boma, but I would feel really awful if I end up with a giant plate and he's drinking a Coke with a personal pizza from an hour ago deteriorating in his belly. (This is what happened at Teppan Edo and it made me upset. Obviously this isn't intentional, neither of us want to ruin each other's time)

Help please!

:flower3:

This is a tough one! It sounds like your husband likes starches most? Or is that all there si available to eat? Does he do tofu at all? Sushi? Or just more like pasta & rice dishes?

ehhhhhhhhh

mostly starches

no fish

basically the least healthy diet in the universe

He has eaten tofu, I don't think he loves/hates it...I didn't think they served tofu in Disney (for some reason, I don't think I've ever thought of it)

We are a family of vegetarians (we do eat vegetables, though!), so let me see what I can think of that your husband might eat...

Crystal Palace---Wide range of options, including mashed potatoes and desserts, and it's fabulous!

Chefs de France---the veg. menu has a vegetable lasagna (maybe he'd eat it because it is a lot of pasta?) and also fancy Mac & Cheese

Hollywood & Vine was pretty good, actually, pre-character anyway (but it's been years).

Sunshine Seasons is good for quick service. The sandwich does have vegetables, but they're covered in cheese and mustard.

I really wouldn't recommend Boma for dinner---we were not impressed, and we are NOT picky. We found it to be fairly flavorless...although maybe that's what he likes? We also had TERRIBLE service both times we were there for dinner. I mean, truly, truly awful.
Breakfast was great, but it's been a long time since we've been there.

aHA! Thank you so much! I'm currently devising a 'battle plan', hopefully he's cool with these. Veg lasagna and sandwiches should be good--he loves Boca/Veg burgers and they have veggies in them.

Also thank you for commenting on Boma...I was pretty much on the fence with that. You're not the first to comment on the service, which is a big deciding factor for me. We ate at the GF Cafe in December and I was so annoyed by the waitress that we probably won't go back again unless we have to (even though the food was good!)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I am a vegetarian and I love Boma's. I always see comments about bad service there but, we have never had a problem. Maybe it is just all in the timeing- we usually try to get one of the earlier seating times. Plus keep in mind that it is a buffet so the server only deals with your drinks, removing plates, and your bill.

We were always an early seating, too, and it wasn't just the servers---it was the chefs when we were there as well, and not everything that looks vegetarian is vegetarian, so the chefs are necessary for finding out what's what. For instance, most of the desserts contain gelatin.
Our first server was actively rude, not just inattentive---she had my sister (age 25) near tears because she was actually kind of mean.

ouch. That's totally not cool.

We just added a few more people to our party, 2 more meateaters and another veg...hopefully he's not any pickier than my husband!

We still have a couple more months to go, I'll update this thread as I make decisions on where we want to make our ADRs!
