I agree that a stroller will create a 'bubble' for him so i will probably go down that route.

Guest Relations emailed me back this morning and like expected, they said that park guest services will make the decision once we arrive but came across sympathetic and informative

I would be extremely surprised if Guest Services at the parks deny a DAS for your child. We have never had any issue with Disney staff at Guest Services trying to be anything other than helpful. And if for whatever reason you meet with someone who isn't, I would suggest speaking to a different Guest Services agent at a different location. If you describe your child's needs, they should be able to help determine how best to meet those needs.
