I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experiences in traveling to WDW with a 4 1/2 month old. We have been many times before but never with a baby. In particular, I am wondering about the stroller situation. Do people use the car carrier in the stroller or is it better to put my DS in a stroller??? We will also have our almost 5 yr old DS with us. Surprisingly, he will sit in a stroller. Any experiences with the "sit and stand" stroller from Baby Trend? What about a good stroller for a 4 1/2 month old? Ohhhhh.... so many questions. I have always received such great advice in the past on these boards and now that we are planning our September trip, I am excited to be back!!! Thanks!!!

We took our dd when she was 6 months old (already too big for the carrier-long baby!!), so that wasn't an option for us, but I wouldn't have used the carrier in the stroller anyway, at least for most of the time. We used our front to back double- this way she was able to sit up or lay down and ds could have a seat in the front. It worked really well for us. It had the canopy and I clipped a lightweight blanket over it to cover her when she slept. Ds still slept in the stroller at that point, so the double worked well for us.

Good luck and have fun!

OK first whenever i took my girls when they were little babies i always had them in the carrier in the stroller..that way if you go to a restaurant that doesn't have the infant high chairs (which most don't..a bit strange) you can put them next to you and you won't have to worry about holding them while eating. The only problem with the carrier, even in September, is it may be a lot hotter in there than you are. I would make sure to put a white towel in there in the morning and see if ou can clip a little fan on somewhere.
I don't have any experience with the sit and stand strollers, but if you were going to but a new stroller make sure it is lightweight..especially for getting off and on the buses. Can't go wrong with a Maclaren, or Combi. The new Graco's are pretty nice(and much less expensive) and have a higher weight limit than they used to (i think..lol).
I think it is easier to travel with a baby that age, cause they are just along for the ride..lol Baby can go on most rides that don't have height restrictions. Good lUck and have fun!!

I wouldn't use the carrier in a place like WDW for two reasons. First, the babies can get overheated VERY quickly due to poor air circulation in the carrier. Their body heat gets trapped and as we all know, babies are not good at regulating their body temps. Second, babies need time to stretch, kick, and move around, especially by 4 1/2 months old. Cooping them up in a carrier for hours is probably not very comfy for them.

I do agree that they are convenient for restaurants, but I would rather be incovenienced for my meal than make my child uncomfortable for the day.

LOL well i wouldn't let the baby stay in the carrier for hours at a time, just like i wouldn't let a baby stay in a stroller for hours at a time. You could also look into a carrier of some type, i use a sling http://goo-ga.com/ , or a Mei Tei http://www.sachicarriers.com/ ...they are great for when the babies want to be held, but you get to have free hands. You could look at al the different types here.. http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/

Thank you for the web sites for the slings.... I have a baby bjourn but it is not really that comfortable and my ds never seems happy in it. Anyway, I am definately going to use a stroller instead of the car carrier. Now that brings me to my next obsession..... a new stroller LOL :lmao: I have a Maclaren Triumph but it doesn't recline all the way and the sunshade doesn't cover fully (great for my older ds, but not so great for a 4 1/2 month old) Any suggestions would be appreciated :yay: Thanks again :wave2:

I went through the stroller obsession too before our trip last December. I ended up with the Peg Perego P3 for DS who was 6mo with a step on the back that 4 y/o DD could ride on--this really is a great one and though pricey can be found on sale. I actually also got DD a Macleran Volo which came w/ a (useless) shade. This worked well for her. We really didn't use the step on the P3 for the WDW trip, but have used it other places and it's nice.

I also took a sling (check out hotslings.com) which was great for DS. It was a stretchy fleece which was great in the cool weather. I know they also have stretch cotton and other more summery ones. I also own a new native sling which worked when he was much younger, but the stretchy hotsling just worked better for us fit-wise later on. He was comfortable but did look kind of stuffed in there. I loved that hotsling--it really was awesome!

Have fun. By the way, I probably shouldn't tell you this but there is a stroller board on the internet--I can't remember the name. Basically there is no perfect stroller was what I found out there.
