Hi Everyone,

I'm heading down to Miami for work mid-May and thought why not tack on a couple days in WDW. This is the first time that I have traveled to the parks alone. Any recommendations and tips? There is the Club Villain event going on while I'm visiting. Would you recommend this event if your solo? And last but not least any recommendations for efficient travel between Miami and Orlando. Bus seems way to tedious, renting a car is my plan B, I'm leaning toward taking a Spirit flight from Ft Lauderdale. If anyone has any insight, would love to hear it.

Can't believe it's coming up, almost 4 weeks away!

Thanks,
Christina

My only recommendation is to don't be afraid to do whatever. Some rides / attractions may be weird when going solo, but it's all worth it in the end.

Hey Christina, Im also going in may and will doing most the rides solo as my mother wont go on any of the thrill rides hahahahahaha

I think I am just gonna go for it as i want to do all the crazy rides as besweet mentioned it will be worth it in the end xxx

also if you do find yourself lonely holla I would be happy to have a friend to ride with <3

I say do what you love and skip things that don't interest you . Get up and go bed when you want to and do the same for dining.

I agree with everyone about doing what you want to do - I've never been to Club Villain but it looks like a blast! As for traveling, bus and train both seem particularly awful. Renting a car wouldn't be bad - you can do a rental with a drop off at a different location for about the same price as a train ticket for half the time (8 hrs train vs 3.5 hrs drive - didn't look at the bus travel). And you would have the luxury of not having anyone else with you so you can play your own music and stop when you want. Enjoy your trip - Epcot hasn't looked more beautiful!

I've been solo a number of times, I actually almost enjoy going solo more than I do when my son goes with me (he is grown by the way). You can go at your pace, eat when and what you want where you want, watch as many shows as you want, ride the silly rides if you want or just sit on a bench and watch the people while sipping a drink or eating an ice cream. I haven't had any issues doing anything solo, I eat at TS restaurants, I go to special events, I take tours, I ride rides. I would rent a car and drop it off at Dolphin and then pick another one up when you are ready to go back. I'm not sure how much rental rates are but it might also be just as cheap to keep it the whole time, are you flying back out of Orlando? If you fly from Miami to Orlando, it just might take about as much time as driving and it's not a horrible drive up.

Thanks for all the encouraging words! The more I book things like reservations and fast passes, the more excited I get. It's 28 days away!!!!

Not sure if you made a decision yet - but I'd rent a car. It might not be your cheapest option - but it's probably your easiest. Plus - you can do things like swing by a grocery store, discount store, etc to pick up anything you might need/want.

I've tacked on Disney after work conferences in Florida twice. Don't plan "too few days" at Disney if you can. I'm not sure about your work vacation package/family obligations/finances - but I used to get nervous about "being gone from work" too long when I add on vacation with conference travel - but then I stopped and really thought about the reality of it. I'm AT WORK when I am at a conference - I keep up with emails, might call the office - etc. So - I'm NOT away. Sure, I can't do my entire everyday job out of office - but I can do alot of it and they approved me to be at the conference purposefully -being there is my job. So - the difference between 2-4 extra days at the end - that's not such a big deal for me. And I look at actual weekdays of travel. Do I come back on a Friday? Or stay longer and still make it to work the upcoming Monday? I'm a bit lucky in that my workplace makes it easy for me to distinguish "this is work" and "this is my vacation" - so its all clear before I leave in terms of when I am working, what work pays for, and what comes out of my pocket. I've found that because I lay that out for my boss in advance and get his blessing - there's no confusion about expectations and he's now used to it. I've got a conference this fall where I'm just headed to the conference and back - no extra time personal time - and he actually asked me when I presented the travel plan if I thought I was going feel bad about not having time to visit the area more! I had to assure him that's it a place I've been to a few times before and sightseeing wasn't in the plan this time.

I'm going solo the third week of May. This will be my fourth solo trip and I think going solo is awesome. You can do what you want when you want and go at your own pace.

Here solo now. Mostly not too awkward. I did get an entire test track car to myself (EMH, right before end of illuminations, single rider line). That was interesting. Other than that no one knows you are by yourself. No one cares. Met some awesome CM here at the Poly.

I take mad advantage of people not slowing me down and being able to ride the rides in my order (even if it means lots of crossing the park). I take full advantage of EMH and my park hoppers.

I'm going solo this month too! I will be there the 8th-13th. I have never been by myself, but I'm excited though!!!! : )
