Traveling I-95 Boston To Fla...Anywhere to stop for an hour or so?

Well its been a couple of years since we drove to Fla. We always say NEVER AGAIN...then we forget and do it again. We try to go straight through without a hotel, but other than rest areas, is there anywhere interesting to stop for a break...good food, tourist trap...close to I-95 exits?
Thanks for your help. We are leaving Friday the 13th which is not making my kids very happy. They are 17, 15,14 and 8.

You can't go wrong stopping at South of the Border. It has to be one of the biggest tourist traps anywhere in the U.S.. It's cheesy, tacky and outdated, perfect for a break.

We too will be leaving the 13th on my husbands birthday.
We always stop at Smithfield they have some outlets if you want to kill an hour or so that is in North Carolina, South of Border also a quick stop. We left at 3:00 a.m. from NJ last year and drove all the way to Savannah GA in the I-95 area and reached there about 4:30 in the afternoon. We stayed at Springhill Suites and were very happy with the hotel and all around area. Orlando is about another 4 hours 45 mins from there so it was a great stopover. Next time would like to stop in St. Augustine FL that looked nice from what i saw they have outlets also.

Our kids are about the same age. Last trip instead we added a stop at Cracker Barrel for something to eat. There are plenty of locations along 95 so it wasn't a big problem to put it into the drive.

I let the kids meander the store and pick out a snack for the rest of the trip.

Not a big detour but it was enough.

Go into Washington and visit a Smithsonian museum or the National Zoo. Also check out the Roadside America web site for all kinds of offbeat attractions along the way.
