We are looking to stop somewhere along the intersection of these interstates. Does anyone have a nice city that would be good to rest for the night?

thanks

Lake City is just south of I-10 & has a good selection of hotels & restaurants. Have fun!

Marietta, GA would be a good choice. There are quite a few hotels and lots of places to eat right off I-75 on Barrett Parkway (I'm not sure of the exit number though). I think it's about a 7-8 hour drive to Orlando from there.:)

Dalton, GA would be a good choice too. It's about an hour and a half north of Marietta and that exit isn't quite as busy as the one on Barrett Parkway. I'm not sure of that exit number either, it should be somewhere in the 300's though.

Lake City is round that area. Honestly, there are many hotels from I-10 to Orlando on I-75 etc. I have been to every single one.

Here is the story (there is a moral). For our last trip we were going to stop somewhere around I-10 & I-75 just like you are. Well....Every hotel in Lake City was full.....no problem, I'll just go to the next town.....full....I'll stop in Gainsville surely there is a room there.....full....Ocala.....you guessed it...full. I stoped at every single exit and went to every single hotel from I-10 to Orlando and they were all full. We called the Swan when we got past Ocala and they were very nice and allowed us to check in at 4:30am. They were very nice and did not charge us for an extra night. Usually the day changes over arond 6:00am and check in is not until 3:00pmish, as you know. I look back now and it is quite funny, but at the time I was exhausted.

The moral is.....Make a reservation, do not assume that they will have a vacancy.

have a safe trip

last time I made travel plans and we did have reservations. This time my FIL decided that he'd do and he basically has no plan. so that's pretty much where we stand. I just needed to know a good spot so I could advise him on a place to stop. Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on.

I second that for making reservations. We had a very similar experience as LSURyan in the same FL towns. That also happened to us traveling north on I-75 coming home from Tampa once. We stopped at every hotel/motel from Valdosta, GA until we finally found a vacancy in Macon. It was pouring rain and EVERYONE was stopping.
