Traveling from Philadelphia Area

Hello fellow Philly friends . . . there is a little airport in Wilmington DE that has just added non-stop service to Orlando starting in July with Frontier. They have some fantastic teaser deals out there right now so check it out!! We were able to book travel, round trip, for our family of 5 for under $600 for our trip in September!!! Dates run from July through November and they are only offering flights to Orlando on TUESDAY and SATURDAY so you will need some flexibility, but this saved us a significant amount over anything we could find with Southwest or USAir out of Philadelphia. I know Frontier had hoped that their service from Allentown to Orlando would really pick take off when they pulled service from Philadelphia, but they stopped service as soon as the dates they had originally provided passed....I am hoping that Wilmington wont have the same fate.....

JetBlue is also now servicing Philadelphia, but no direct flights to Orlando. You have to go through Boston which just seems silly! Hopefully they will see there is a large family population that moves from Philadelphia to Orlando and add non-stop service.

Hoping some of you can support these Frontier flights to so that maybe this time it will stick! It is definitely a "no frills" airline, and it is $20 per checked bag, but we figure between the 5 of us, we should be able to pack most things carryon and only check 1 bag

We recently flew Frontier out of trenton. It is a very small airport and the same people who checked us in, boarded us on to the plane and also helped with loading the luggage onto the plane

The staff were all very friendly. We hit bad turbulence, but I don't think that can be blamed on Frontier.

For us, the convenience of flying into an airport 20 mins from home makes it totally worth it.

Yes- I have heard good things about the Trenton-Orlando service, and expect the Wilmington will be very similar. From what it looks like, this will be the only commercial flight flying out that day so I imagine that alone will be such a huge change from Philadelphia! Same distance almost exactly for us too

My only concern would be with so few flights, and few planes available, there could be problems if a plane has mechanical issues. And they are doing something with air traffic controllers and the smaller airports, but I don't know the details.

I would still consider flying with them, however. Trenton is only about 30 minutes away from me.

Thank you!!! We planned on driving this year because airfare was so expensive for 6 of us. It just so happened that we planned on checking into Bonnet Creek on a Tuesday and checking out of OKW 10 days later on a Saturday....the exact days that they fly out of Wilmington!!! Airfare for 6 was $920!!! Woo hoo!!!

It just so happened that we planned on checking into Bonnet Creek on a Tuesday and checking out of OKW 10 days later on a Saturday....the exact days that they fly out of Wilmington!!! Airfare for 6 was $920!!! Woo hoo!!!

YAY! So happy it works for you! I am hoping that people will find out about these deals and keep on booking so the service doesn't disappear!!
