Help!!!!!!!
booked a dvc with davids for first week of feb 7 nights at beach c villas w my husband , 5 year old and 3 year old. Found I am pregnant due feb 28 .
David s will not budge as to push back my dates OR transfer resey to another person.

I would be flying from New Jersey (3 hour flight). I would be between 35 and 36 weeks pregnant. I know all pregnancies r different!!!!!! BUT first 2 were full term and healthy.

I know I would have to rest , hydrate not be as aggressive with our itinerary as usual!!!!

If OK with my OB I will go!!!! Please tell me if anyone else was in a situation like this. I do not want to be out the $1600!!!!!

I know this is risky but would appreciate your feedback!!!!!!!

Thank u in advance !!!!

Which airline are you flying? Some require a doctor's note if flying in the 3rd trimester.

Congrats!

I am pregnant with #3 as well, and will be traveling internationally at 28-30 weeks, then again domestically at 35 weeks. My OB was fine with both since my last two were complication-free pregnancies as well. She has written me a letter stating my due date and that I'm cleared to fly. She's also sending me with my records, just in case. Take it easy, and I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

Congrats on the new family member on the way!
I feel for you as we have rented points too and have anxiety about situations arising that could make things not work out. I'm sorry about your situation and I would be livid as well. Have you considered your DH and kids going without you? You would get a nice quiet break before baby comes and the kids would get some good attention time before baby too. I think if the worst happens and you can't go, that may be something to consider.

Is there anyway you can stay home and have someone else go with your husband and kids? An uncle or aunt or grandparent maybe?

I would be leery of traveling when so far along, of course your OB will have the final say. You might want to also check your health insurance, what if you go into labor or have complications in another state? Will they cover these expenses? Its a valid concern.

We just had our 3rd last week. if everything progresses ok, my doctor was ok with me traveling through the 36th week. you will need to verify the airline's policy. i know each pregnancy is different but for us the 3rd was pretty similar to the other two...

Good luck!
(I've traveled internationally in week 28 with the third, 32 with the first, 34 with the second (and that was to WDW)). Get compression hose for the flight.

check with airline, I was almost refused flight for mother's funeral at 8 month mark and this was with dr permission. my guess is you might have trouble with airline

I think the advice to clear it with the airline is good. Also, the call to your health insurance is an excellent suggestion. Find out what hospitals near disneyworld are in network. Also, you may need to spend a few minutes in the internet on the websites of those facilities. Not all hospitals deliver babies. Make sure you know which ones do.

Worse case scenario, if you go into labor go to a hospital. They will send you to the labor and delivery unit and there is always an "on call" ob/gyn for women who come in from either out of town or who didn't receive prenatal care. The nurses do their thing, call the doctor in when it's time and you have a baby.

I would check with the airline and make sure you have back up plans for delivery... My dr had said most are ok thru 36 weeks, but I delivered one at 37 weeks and my second at 35 weeks... You never know what could happen.... Be prepared for hospitals near for delivery just incase :) :)

Most airlines will not let you fly past 36 weeks - regardless of whether you have a Dr. note. I would contact the airlines to confirm. They don't want to take the chance you might go into labour in the air.

About two weeks ago, there was a baby delivered on a plane in my town. They were at least on the ground, and there was a nurse on the flight....but I am pretty sure that they'll be a bit more strict in confirming due dates ::yes::

Definitely check with your insurance. Ours can (and will) decline to pay if you choose to travel after 34 weeks and need emergency pregnancy-related care or to deliver early even if your doctor approves travel. I would hate to have to pay out of pocket for emergency medical expenses or a delivery.

I have gone once at 30 weeks and will be going again at 28 weeks. My doctor said to drive. I would follow whatever advice your doctor gives :)

All three of my pregnancies were different. No way would I chance having my baby in a strange area without my Dr. and hospital.

More than likely you will be fine, but I wouldn't take even a 1% chance. Also flying that long would not be the best JMO. Would listen to your Dr. and your own common sense.

Also, the 'small' chance you would have your baby there, most airlines will not have a baby fly before a certain age.

I wouldn't go and I'd willingly lose the $1600 if need be. While you could have the baby while away, getting your baby home would be an issue. You may not be covered to fly until nine weeks postpartum. Your newborn could not fly. No trip is worth the risk you are considering.

Every pregnancy is different, but I had my first at 36 weeks with no warning and the second at 35 weeks with no warning. With the first, I had a backache and went to be checked and found I was dilated to 8. I didn't feel any contractions with either pregnancy, just a mild backache. I wouldn't do it.

First of all, congratulations!

That's a real bummer. Especially since you probably went with David to protect yourself. I can understand why he can't push the vacation later because the DVC member has already been paid and it's a huge PITB, but I don't understand why he won't let you to transfer the reservation to someone else of your choosing. Changing names on a DVC reservation can easily be done. Yes, David would have to bug the owner again to make the changes but so what? Unless you are asking *him* to find a buyer for your reservation, it's really not a big deal. I think this is a case where having an established relationship with an individual DVC owner would be better than a company. If you were my renter I would have worked with you to my best ability to either make your vacation happen at a later time (maybe not at the same resort) or to allow you to transfer the reservation.

Now to your question: No, I would not go on a vacation 2-3 weeks before my due-date. Maybe you can send your family without you?

I love Disney and have been considered crazy for going with a 9 week old! That being said, the NICU nurse in me feels like this is a bad idea. That close to delivery too much could go wrong. You could deliver on the flight or in Florida. We had several NICU patients whose parents were from across the country and had been traveling nearby so they delivered at our hospital. You may not care which hospital you deliver at, but what about the chance that your baby may be in NICU for weeks or even months? Would you really be okay living in a Florida hotel for months? You would probably be separated from your other kids as they would have to return home for school. Most people don't think that it would happen to them, but I have seen it many times. What if your baby needed medical assistance but was delivered on the plane and therefore couldn't get the intensive care it needed? No vacation is worth those risks to me.

I would go... But I had both of my kids at 40 weeks, no complications, etc. I would check with my doctor and the airline first... If you couldn't fly a baby home if you happen to give birth in Florida you could take a train or something back to NJ I would think? I'm sure I'll be minority opinion... But I figure women have babies all the time problem free and you're not traveling to a foreign country, just wdw!

1. I would call David's and explain the situation. Based on your individual contract/owner's use year, there may be a way to push it forward 6+ months (if you are OK with an infant at WDW).

2. If no go with changing the timing, call the airline and your physician for input.

3. If they both say OK, research hospitals in the WDW area for the best one (they are NOT created equally). Decide if you are comfortable potentially delivering your infant there, and flying home with a new baby. (also cost in rescheduling flights, additional hotel, etc.).

4. If your gut says go, then go, and take it easy. I stay active during the later stages of my pregnancies, but you will need to take a lot of breaks and avoid the rush rush.

I think my personal cutoff is 30 weeks. Everyone is different. If it is only the money that is bugging you, then don't go. If you really, really want to go, then if the stars align, go for it. Most likely you will be fine.

I just traveled to Florida for a wedding while 35 weeks pregnant with my second, after having a full term healthy baby the first time around. My midwives didn't even express concern - they said it was fine as long as I was returning before 36 weeks and would always be in an area with a good hospital with NICU care. The airline was also fine before 36 weeks. I took a note from the midwives stating my due date, that I was less than 36 weeks and that they did not feel there was a medical reason not to fly. I also took all my medical records just in case. No one ever asked to see any of it.

Honestly, I would go unless there is reason to think you would deliver early. There is of course some level of risk because you could always end up going into labor unexpectedly but, at least for me, I didn't think the risk was enough to skip my best friend's wedding and I wouldn't skip a non refundable trip either (although I respect the different risk assessment of other posters - it's about what you are comfortable with).
