traveling alone with kids

We just returned from our first trip to Disney and I am hooked!! I am ready to plan the next!

Problem is, dh is not a Disney lover. I know! The horror! He went this time but I will not be able to get him to go again. I am considering taking the kids by myself. We have 4 children, I am considering going in mid September and their ages at that time will be 13, 11, 6, and 4. I was thinking I might stay at the Poly just to make transportation easier, although I am not opposed to renting a car. I was also thinking it might make it easier if we stay concierge, picking up a quick snack, etc. would be easier. Also, my thoughts were I could use the child care at the Poly an evening or 2 to take the bigger kids to do stuff the other 2 are 2 small for. They can ride with each other though so it's not like they wouldn't be able to ride RNR or M:S otherwise. I would appreciate any thoughts.

It sounds like you already have a great plan. i only have one DD6 but I take her to WDW at least 3 times a year by myself. DH will only go once a year. Not a big WDw fan. Never had a problem.

I take my kids DS5 and DD3 by myself all the time. Occasionally when i am there I also have my friends 2 who are around the same age. It is very doable!

I will be taking my 3 kids in June ages 15, 13 and 5 by myself, DH hates Disney and makes the trip not so fun for the rest of us. I did this two years ago and did fine. Who needs poo poo heads anyway!!

Wife of another poo-head here!!! I think your plan sounds perfect!!!! I took my 2 dd's (11 & 6) by myself for the first time this fall & we had a BLAST ! We love my dh dearly...but it was so nice to not have to worry about whether "daddy was sick of disney" yet!!!

Ya'll made me feel so much better. I am taking DS8 and DD5 while my husband will be working the Home Show. I keep feeling like I am leaving him out but he has already been with them 2 years ago and he whined worse than the children. I just hope DS will get to ride on everything since I won't be able to go with him because of DD. I guess I can do it if some of you can do it with 4 children.

So glad I'm not alone here! Actually, now my mil is talking about going with me, she can't believe her son doesn't want to! So, that would make things even easier! I really only worry about doing it alone with the kids while I still have a couple who are too short to do some of the rides. Once they are all taller and older and completely done with the stroller it'll be a LOT easier! Oh well, at least we are done with diapers!
