Travelex Trip Insurance

Has anyone purchased the trip insurance offered through DVC provided by Travelex? It's $79 and as we'll be vacationing at the start of hurricane season thinking it may be worth it (assuming interruption by a hurricane is covered.

Have never purchased insurance through DVC, but always use Travelex for cruise insurance. Their prices and the coverage offered is extremely good in comparison to what others provide.

However, it is better to purchase the insurance directly from the company as the middleman generally takes a markup (DVC in this case).

You can either purchase direct from the Travelex website, or through insuremytrip.com. First time we purchased through Travelex website, next few times through insuremytrip.com. I like insuremytrip.com because it provides ability to compare plans from a bunch of providers. In the end, we still purchase Travelex, but it's nice to see what else is available.

We did purchase Travelex through DVC. The $5/point is not great but I think it is a bargain because it covers airfare and we always fly. I find it odd that it is the same price no matter how many points you own. We have a lot of points so that makes the $79 really cheap.

What type of issues do they insure against IE Hurricanes? broken leg? cancelled flights? illness? Just curious as to what would be covered. For example would it cover if a family member who is not part of the traveling party is suddenly hospitalized or dies and therefore someone cannot go on the trip as they are dealing with this emergency.

On the member homepage there is a spot at the bottom to click to get details about the insurance. We like that if you buy when you pay your dues they wave the pre-existing conditions. That is a big deal for us because DH has multiple health issues.
