Hi! Hoping to hear from anyone that might have experience with these people. They called me today, offering a "great" deal. They said they could offer me 4 getaway weeks through my RCI membership (included in the DVC membership), for like $980 total, and would rent them out at $1400/week...netting me almost $4500. Seems too easy. They said it would in no way affect my DVC points, and that this is a plan a lot of DVC members utilize to offset costs of ownership. Does anyone have any experience? Thanks in advance!

According to RipoffReport.com it is a great big scam. I believe it is also against RCI rules to sub-rent. And DVC Members are not individual members of RCI, it is still a corporate membership, even though we now have access to discounted last minute weeks.

Remember the adage, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Obviously I was leaning toward scam, I mean, if you pay $980 and get back $5400, why wouldn't you just do it yourself, right? At the same time, I think every company in the world has a ripoffreport.com profile...I mean, you've seen yelp reviews. There's ALWAYS at least one person that doesn't like something! So...just didn't know if anyone had either been contacted by them, or had done business with them.

Also, David's Rental doesn't charge you money for more or less the same service and has a great reputation.

i have used a getaway week before from RCI. if you guys have not taken advantage of these weeks in the past you are missing out. like 200-300 for a week stay. rci rep explained to me like this once the getaways are just like priceline uses left over rooms for hotels but this is for timeshares. http://pgs.rci.com/landing/InsideRCI/extravacations/indexthankyou.html
