I'm not sure where to put this so I thought I'd try here first. :goodvibes We are thinking of driving to NYC this summer and I'd love to stay near Times Square. I know that accommodations can be very expensive and I don't want anything outrageous, just clean, comfortable, and central. The problem is that we will be driving and I don't know about the parking situation. Are there any hotels that provide parking at reasonable rates? Does anyone have any other ideas? Can I park my car outside the city (safely) for a few days and use another means of transportation to go to Manhattan? We have never been there so I am just searching for ideas. Any help would be much appreciated!

There is a Hilton Garden Inn just a couple of blocks off Times Square. It is not as pricey as the main hotels right on Times Square - and you will have a microwave and refrigerator in your room.
As with everything else in a good location in NYC, it is smaller and more expensive than you would pay elsewhere - but we thought it was a great price for the location and accomodations.
Not sure about the parking - we flew.

Thanks for the info--I'll check it out. I don't mind paying for parking if it is close and reasonable. I've heard that sometimes you have to park blocks from your hotel and it is very expensive. I'm not sure if this is true but several hotels that I have priced have no parking. Any advice is welcome!

Check out the Belvedere Hotel on 48th and 8th. They have a good web site to get an idea.

Wow...that looks very nice, however, I couldn't find anything about parking. Have you stayed there? Is there parking nearby?

Yes, I have stayed there. It's a good location, can walk to all the good places. I saw a parking garage about 50 yards away. Don't know anything about it but maybe the hotel does and can answer that question.
