Can you experienced Fort lovers let me know how long it takes (approx) to get the parks from the Fort? We are staying at the cabins in April and I am wondering how much time to give ourselves for some breakfast ADRs and for making rope drop. I think I recall that MK is about 15 minutes - is that right? We took the boat from MK to FW for Mickey's Barbeque last year. How long does it take via Disney transportation to DHS, Epcot and AK?

You have to allow time for the bus ride down to the marina (or maybe not if you have a golf cart).
Bus to the marina - 10-15 mins
First boat to MK - 830 (or about 30 mins before park opens), the ride takes about 15 mins

Buses to the other parks are highly variable. I would say plan on about an hour door to door, and consider yourself lucky if it takes less time. Epcot is closest, so you can probably do that faster. But if you just miss your bus from the outpost, you can easily wait 20-30 mins for the next one.
We made it to AK in about 45. Epcot in 30 (but it took over an hour to get back at the end of the day, we just missed the bus). DHS about 45.

I agree with Indiemom. We give ourselves an hour to get to each park. Usually we would get there early. We usually got the gate about 15-25 minutes before rope drop. If we are in a hurry, we would drive to DHS and AK.

I would recommend driving to DTD. That takes forever to get to by bus and only a few minutes to drive and park.

We are going in April too!!! 22-28th

We just returned and the buses were very frequent. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes for any of them. The boat from MK to the fort was the only one we had to wait for, and that was due to one of the Larger boats being down for repairs. They had a small resort boat filling in, so it would fill to capacity and cause a line.

Thanks for the input. We will have a golf cart but we will not have a car.

Two questions:
1. To go to Epcot, would it be faster by bus or via boat to the Contemporary and then monorail?
2. To go to DTD, is the service so long/bad that you would recommend a taxi? If so how much does that cost (even approx would be awesome)?

Bus is quicker. If you take the boat to Contemp to monorail, you have to switch to the Epcot monorail at TTC. A fun way to go, but not quick.

we usually plan to leave an hour before we have to be somewhere - cuts down on the rushing and stress. I can't tell you how many times have we observed others get on a bus at the Fort and then say they have an ADR in 10 minutes at one of the parks....:confused3 it's a bus, not a plane. Then they freak out because they're late :confused3
Boggles the mind.

Since I'm arriving next Saturday -- and have been to Disney many times, but never stayed at FW (we're renting three cabins) -- I'm finding this thread really helpful!

Question, if I might butt in:

We rented a cart for the week, mainly to help deal with the elderly grandparents. If they take the cart to, say, the marina, is there a place where it can be parked all day while we are at MK? Is there a general rule about where and for how long carts can be parked? (Or, if there's a thread that answers this kind of particular question, I'd be most appreciative).

Thanks a gazillion (translation: a whole bunch), as always.

There is parking specifically for golf carts (at the marina, outpost, settlement trading post, etc..)- you'll be able to spot it easily when you see the other carts parked there. I don't think there's any time limit - we're pretty relaxed at the Fort. Have a GREAT time!
