Travel time to airport question

I hope this is an okay place to ask this. How bad can we expect (generally speaking) traffic to be from DLR to LAX on a Saturday evening? The flight we're looking at is 11:35 PM and trying to determine how early we'd need to leave the resort. I'm normally a person who likes to be at the airport between 2 and 3 hours early.

What you have to worry about at that time is not the traffic to the airport (shouldn't be too bad), but the traffic IN the airport. LAX is possibly the worst set up airport in the country for driving into/out of. At that time of night, when all the international flights are taking off, I've had it take almost an hour to get into and around the airport.

I've never used either of those, really, since I live here. I don't imagine it would make much difference.

That won’t make a difference with airport traffic. You won’t have any traffic getting to the airport with a flight at that time. It’s just dealing with in airport traffic and getting through security. What airline would you be flying? That would help with where in the airport it is and they kind of traffic and security lines you could expect to encounter.

Great, thank you! It looks like we’ll be flying American.

American flys out of terminals 4 and 5. Terminal 4 is the worst one to get to in the airport because it’s in the far left corner of the airport with no cut throughs. Terminal 5 has a cut through as you go around the airport. Both terminals are good with security and I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes in recent years.
