Travel Time From "Areas"

I too have buried myself in offers for pool houses. Now that I know all of my needs vs. wants I have narrowed down the options with the only difference in the houses being location and price.

I can get everything I want at a price I can live with in Lake Berkley.
I can get it all in a house for a great price in Hampton Lakes/Highland Reserve.
I think I have one that works in Solana.
And I have two that are a little more than I want to pay in Emerald Island/Windsor Palms.

So here's the thousand dollar question. For a family who is going to take at least 7 round trips to Disney which of these "areas" should we avoid/consider.

Of course the homeowners all tell you to avoid whichever their houses are not located in. (I've been told to avoid 27, I've been told to avoid Poinciana, I've been told 192 is a pain) But again that was all by homeowners in opposing locations(and I'm not putting them down for that, I'm sure they are more familiar with their locations and everyone thinks theirs is the best) I was getting pretty married to the area of Windsor Hills for location (I briefly added the "resort/clubhouse" option to my wants, but no longer see that as necessary) One owner has me rethinking the location, he has one house in Windsor Palms and a similar one in Solana for $300 less, he tells me it's only 4 minutes difference in the drive time. If this is true his other house would work, HOWEVER, if its true it also opens up that whole area as only being 4 mins. more than windsor/emerald and there are lots of "loaded" houses in that area to chose from at affordable prices. So you can tell from my ramblins' that I need help.

I think there are basically 5 areas to pick from.

North on 27.
Middle of 27.
South 27 near I-4.
"Right down" 192 (formosa gardens, windsor palms)
Across 4 on 192 (Lake Berkley, etc...)

So if anyone has any opinions I'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks again,
Nick

I would go with your first choice Lake Berkley

if it is as close as this map says it is...

now that area between us 192 and 535 was doing a lot of construction.

It looks like it is the area of the Super Walmart on US 192 - which was about 20 minutes from OKW (disney). sometimes I could do in less - but most of the time it was 20 minutes if not more.

I think you will be fine....

Unless you hate construction.....

Thank you for the links. I was hoping who has been there can clue me in on drive times. All of the areas are about the same distance on the maps. (with the exception of windsor hills area, which seems to be the closest)

But I'm wondering about the drive time. Again we plan on doing WDW every day, so 15 mins. each way will add up over 7 days. I think really I want to avoid stop lights/business districts. Am I correct that 192 (going either direction) will be nothing but stoplights?

Is it a quick drive down I4 to 27? From the middle of 27 are you better off to go south to 4 and then take that to WDW?

We always stay off the 192 , prefer Indian Creek which is at the Formosa Gardens area.

Find we are 5 minutes from restaurants, a Publix Supermarket and close to Disney and the I4 also.

Have stayed on Poinciana Boulevard and whilst we do not dislike the location feel that FG is better.

Close to the 192 is always our choice though.

you are only 2 miles from 535 - go down this road to 536 - follow it to disney...

the problem I had was construction. this part of US 192 was under heavy construction....they are trying to make it better - putting up trees, sidewalks - so it will be pleasant when they are through - it is problem now or was...I am going next week - so I will see how long it takes to get there. (okay if I remember).....

I think there are only a couple of lights in that participate section of US 192.

535 has 3 or 4 lights between it and 536.

536 has one light (Marriott) before you are on WDW property.

now there are times when this place is horrible. lunch time, dinner time - after work rush...

I just stayed at Emerald Island. Formosa Gardens Rd is located right past marker #5 on 192. You can use Sherberth Rd to get to the parks. Sherberth Rd is located very close to Formosa Gardens Rd. Once you make a right onto 192 you need to get in the left lane because Sherberth Rd is at the next light. You can do a search here for "Sherberth Rd" and the directions to the parks are there. It was very easy and definitely quicker than traveling through all the lights on 192.

As far as staying near the Wal-Mart on 192 I would not recommend it. There was plenty of traffic and the lights really slow you down. There is construction and I was in bumper to bumper traffic one day trying to get to Wal-Mart.

I have stayed in all of the locations you mentioned and I would say without doubt go for Emerald Island or Windsor Palms.... Its very easy for owners to say "we are only 10 minutes from Disney" but most of the time its not true!! From EI or WP you will be on Disney property in 5 minutes, from the others depending upon traffic it will take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour at peak times.
