Travel time between Anaheim and Long Beach

We want to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific during our stay at DLR. Our choices are Friday or Saturday. If we left Anaheim around 9:30am on Friday and tried to leave by 3:00, how painful will the drive be? Our other choice is leave later in the morning on Saturday (late night at DL on Friday) and fight the weekend crowds at the aquarium. Any thoughts or suggestions?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Long Beach in March. It took us about 20 minutes to get to Disneyland from the hotel, the same going back. Even during rush hour it never took us much longer and was an easy drive.

We usually drive on Ball/ Wardlow. It typically takes us about 30-40 minutes. On Monday I caught the 3:45 Candy cane shuttle back to the hotel, and jumped in the rental car. Even with stopping for gas we were at the airport by 4:30. We were all checked in and thru security in about 10 minutes. Their security areas only serve about 4 gates each, so there is never much of a line up.
