For those of you that may be traveling down to the World today. Be careful if you are coming through Georgia this afternoon. Below is the statement from the Atlanta Journal Paper.
"This line will only intensify during the morning and afternoon as it sweeps eastward," the Weather Service warned. "Damaging straight line winds are likely with this thunderstorm complex. Wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph can be expected."
Cold air aloft this afternoon could also support the development of large hail, the Weather Service said, and there's a risk of tornadoes south of Atlanta, across Middle Georgia.
The forecast for metro Atlanta calls for showers and thunderstorms some possibly severe this afternoon, with locally heavy rainfall possible.
