Travel Scoot (ECV) only weighs 35 pounds

Just thought this might help some of the mobility challenged campers.

I think it's great, however based on what I've seen over the years, that unit will get stuck in some of the, let's say endowed, people's butt crack. Not a pretty picture. I guess it could act as a motivator for loosing a few pounds.

It does have a weight limit, so extremely overweight people would not be able to use it. I looked into one for my mom (she is beyond the assistance of an ECV now, and has to be pushed in a wheelchair). I was also concerned about the seat comfort for all day use even though her weight in our case would not have been an issue. I think they are a great idea, especially for people who are camping and don't want to add a lot of weight to their RV's. But I think they are more practical for people who need a small to medium amount of assistance, mainly because they don't have a deck for resting your feet so you would need to be aware of how you are resting your feet so they don't slip off. To me that implies you would have to have a certain amount of muscle control and physical fitness that you might not need with a more substantial ECV. But I haven't seen one in person yet, so that is a supposition on my part.

I am thinking of getting a travel scoot for my husband. He needs a revision in his right leg and we are going on cruise to alaska before then. The Travel Scooter store said that some airlines will not let the Lithium batteries on the plane. I called Alaskan airlines and they seemed confused but then said they didn't think we can take it. Has any one have or know about this problem with traveling with lithium battery?
