We're planning on flying to Minneapolis next summer and I was hoping to use SW credits towards that flight---BUT SW doesn't flight to Minneapolis! Looks like flying into Chicago(Midway) is the closest.

Anyone from that area that could suggest another airline to use for the leg between Chicago and Minneapolis?

Have you tried just checking any of the travel search engines (kayak.com, sidestep.com) or online travel companies (travelocity.com, orbitz.com, priceline.com) just for schedule and fare information? You don't need to book that way, but at least you'll see what, if any, airlines are available.

I for for a company that has its headquarters in Minneapolis. I book all travel. Whenver I book out of Midway I use Airtran or Northwest. I have seen fares for as low as 39 each way on Airtran.

I did check with some of the online travel sources and know that flying direct from PHL to Chicago( NW) is more expensive than flying SW and then another airline to Minn. Have never flown Air Tran before, will check them. We would have to coordinate layover time---need to check the terminals distances at Midway.

Keep in mind if you book separate reservations, your luggage will not be transferred like it would be with a regular connection. You would have to go to baggage claim and then recheck it. If your first flight is late, you will have problems because they will not be aware of your second flight and mark you as a no show.

REAL good point! Maybe we'll just try to use our SW credit some other time. Thanks--didn't think about baggage transfers!!

That's what I would do. Maybe by next summer Southwest will add service to MSP. I think what holds them back is the fact that it's a big Northwest hub. They only came to Pittsburgh after USAir dropped us as a hub.
