Travel plans falling apart

Hello,
I was hoping to do a pre trip report this week but everything is going pear shaped and now I'm starting to fret we won't make it
We'd booked a hotel in the center of Athens for Sat (the day before we're due to fly)- so we could do some sightseeing and DS (who doesn't Know we're going to DLRP) was really looking forward to seeing all the decorations. You can imagine our panic on seeing all the terrible city riots-right outside the hotel. DS caught the footage of the xmas tree being burnt and was soo upset at least I could tell him that we would take him to see a wonderful tree soon after the our plane lands. Anyway I've managed to get a refund on the hotel and booked another well away from the destruction. Now the country is being struck by strikes- today no ferries (we live on an island) and no flights. There is a chance they'll be more industrial action. I know I sound selfish with all the problems the country is having at the moment ,but this trip is feeling more like an evacuation and I've lost all my excitement to stress. Pixie dust needed please.

I really hope you make it to DLRP. What's happening in Greece is horrible and I hope it comes to an end soon.
