I want to try and do a short get away with hubby in the next couple months. Does anyone know where we can go for a short 3 nighter? We can drive or (fly maybe) No cruises, he wont do it. Interests are just to RELAX! He is into hunting/guns and music, if there are places to entice him with that :) (example, I got him to vacation near the outlets because there is one nice sportsman shop in there) We are in MA and haven't been past NH together in years. He hasn't flown in over 17 years, not sure if I can get him on a quick flight to build up his stamina in flying. I dont know where to start. We don't want a shack of a hotel either, we need something more than what I can find here in NE. HELP!!

Arg! I wish he would just be into WDW, it would make things so much easier! I even think, hmmm would he go if we stayed at Swan and Dolphin?? and we just did things other than the parks?? I bet he would love that hotel, it is so what he likes!!! I wonder if I could get cheap enough flights, if he would go for that kind of thing? Slowly introduce Disney lol.

WDW is always our choice. Of course with AP's and DVC, its almost a "free" vacation!

What about Montreal? I have actually never been there, but my DH used to go a lot. It is a very beautiful city.

I just read about a clam festival in Yarmouth ME, it was featured in Rachael Ray's magazine. They also had a spot about a Tupelo MS film festival. I'm sitting in a hotel room and the magazine is at home or I'd have more info.

I like the idea of just doing the resorts and "other" things at WDW - you could check out JetBlue flights they can have some cheap options.

I was going to suggest going to Cabella's in PA, but it sounds like you know about that. My cousin's go up there a lot, they also do Hershey and the Poconno's (sp) while they are there.

There's always Vegas, if you can find a cheap flight. You didn't mention if it had to be a weeked, but you can get some good deals in the middle of the week.

Some ideas with short flights from MA:
---Maryland....Baltimore,Annapolis, short drive to DC (I prefer BWI over Dullas and Reagan)

---Buffalo---Niagara Falls---both sides of the Falls have advantages

---NYC

---Virginia.... great towns from the mountains to the beaches

We are in MA too, and we drove down to Virginia Beach for a few days right on the strip. It was very relaxing, although the drive is pretty long for a short trip.

For more rustic, you can always try to Catskills or the Poconos.

For relaxation, not WDW. A three day trip there would NOT be relaxing or worth the travel time for the time at the resort. Pick someplace closer.

New Hampshire White Mountains, relax at a cottage on Lake Winnepesaukee. Do some short hikes. See the flume. Drive to the top of Mt washington.

Southern Maine beaches, just don't expect to go in the cold water. LL Bean in Freeport, Cabela's in Scarborough. LL Bean has a free summer concert series, the schedule is not released yet.

Just relax and take it easy!

Branson, MO would be my choice based on your DH's likes....There is good musical entertainment there as well as hunting and fishing in and out of the city.

My SIL rented a cabin on a lake in Maine and did the whole lobster feast thing on the beach (the cabin place provided it) and had a boat to go on the lake. Its not me but sounded like very fancy camping. Definately relaxing and DH might like it.

Don't know how much you're willing to spend but I've been trying to price a small getaway from DGF and myself in the next few months. Some discount travel websites have Flight+Hotel deals to islands like Jamaica and Bermuda for less than $500 PP. Some of these included all-inclusive stuff with food and drink. Don't know if you're into doing something tropical but figured I'd mention it. Bermuda is only a few hours by plane so it might not be too difficult for him considering he hasn't flown.

Thanks everyone :) This is a hard one for sure lol.

I am so over the hunting stuff, if I see one more camo anything I swear :lmao: he did just go to the new Cabela's store with his pal, so that is all set :)

I really need to get this man on a plane!! He is so limiting our travel! I just need to find something to win him over to the idea.

Music is best, something we both enjoy. Beach area for sure, but I dont want a cabin, I want to be treated not cook lol. hmmm

anyone ever been to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio??

have you thought about Austin Tx? Lots of live music, beautiful weather, there is a mountain neer the city with stairs.

Well that's where I'd go. I fell in lovewith Austin my last long weekend there.

I have been there a couple of times. It is very nice, but I can't imagine spending more than 1 day there. The science museum that is right next door is really nice too if you are into that sort of thing. You could also do the whole Lake Erie thing or Cedar Point.

Well I live in Louisiana and they have the Crawfish Festival going on May 1-3. They have cajun music, great food and its lots of fun. PM if you need more info.

Cleveland? What is this place called Cleveland? Oh, yes I have heard of it. Terrible place, terrible football team. Avoid at all costs. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Now Pittsburgh on the other hand. Lovely city, rivers, museums, nearby Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob if you like Frank Lloyd Wright. Wonderful amusement park. We are the perfect place for a relaxing get away.

OK, now don't be trashing my City :rotfl:! I live in the Cleveland area and it could make for a nice weekend get away. We have the Rock n Roll hall of fame, plus the Football hall of fame in Akron - about a 45 minute drive. WE also have our own Iron Chef Michael Symon, and his restaurant Lola's is wonderful. Both the Ritz Carlton and the Renaissance Hotel are located in Tower City, which has an indoor mall, movie plex, a light rail (RTA), and its within walking distance to the RNRHall. Plus we have a great art museum - which is free (ok you pay for parking) just a few miles from downtown. But there's enough to do here for a long weekend. I'd be glad to answer any questions if you pm me!!!
