Planning to visit in April for birthday celebration. We are 2A 3C. Also have SiL. My parents want to join for the first 3 nights while the rest of us will stay for 6 nights. What is the best way to go for rooms? Was thinking of 2bdrm villa then switching to family suite or getting 2 rooms at moderate. Trying to think economically. Should we get family suite and have my parents do their own thing? I'm an experienced Disney traveler, but this is stressing me out! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, You may want to stay with the 2 bedroom villa for the whole trip. If you rent points this may be your best priced option also. We are a family of 5 and are very comfortable in a 2 bedroom villa. Also a full kitchen is good for snacks and any meals you would like to prepare. Joan

Just a thought, you may want to look into renting DVC points for a 2 bdrm stay the whole time. It is considerably cheaper than Disney directly and then you could stay at the same place the whole time. OKW has the largest 2 bdrm by far and would give you plenty of room for 8 - we've done it twice.

Welcome SingingMom to the disboards- I see this is your first post!!! If you want to economize, I would suggest staying in a family suite and letting your parents get their own room, that way you wouldn't have to switch resorts. The Art of Animation (AOA) has just opened and I think that would be a great way to go since it's brand new. Begining Sept. 15, there will also be non-suite rooms available in the the Little Mermaid section. AOA is a value resort so it would fit your pricing needs and definately could accomodate your parents in a 2nd room. However for a "value" the suites are not cheap. Another option would be to start out with a 2 bedroom Villa. If you book this vaction through Disney it might be expensive, however you could consider renting points from a DVC owner. You should check out the DVC renting information on these boards, to see if this option would work for you since there are pros and cons for renting directly from a DVC owner. If you rented a DVC villa for your first 3 nights, you could move to a family AOA suite later or maybe consider the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, since they also accomodate 6. The cheapest option would be to stay the first 3 nights with your parents off-site in a rented condo or hotel, then move on-site after your parents leave. You would give up being on site for the first 3 days, but many rentals and condos make more sense cost wise for a larger party. Check out the rentals at Bonnet Creek, which are located next door to Disney. Why not price out all 3 scenarios to see which option fits your budget and go from there. You need to decide first if you want all of your nights, on-site. If you go to the WDW website you can play around with the resort selection, number of party, tix, etc. to give you an idea of the costs. Well, hope this was helpful. Have fun planning.

the problem with the suites is one queen bed in the bedroom, in the other room is the love seat bed, chair bed and ottman bed.

would hate to be the 1 adult (SIL) with the kids.

so would also go with 2-bedrooms for the entire time. -

what you get king in the master, either 2 queen beds in the second or queen bed and double sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom. in the livingroom a queen sleeper sofa in some resorts there is also a chair bed (AKV, BLT, OKW).

some (AKV and BLT) also have another bathroom - so 3 bathroom for a 2-bedroom.

also a full kitchen, washer/dryer in the room. dinning area.

now the fw cabins might work - it has a full (double) bed in the bedroom plus bunk beds - in the living room area murphy bed.

I agree, stay with the 2 bedroom. 8 is really pushing it in a 2 bedroom, it assumes 2 people per bed plus 2 people in the living room sofabed. Some now have the sleeper chair (AKV except value, BLT, OKW), which would allow 1 person their own bed.
