I'm about ready to book my Super Shuttle return from the Grand California to LAX, and I'm not sure how much lead time I need. I'm flying out on a Tuesday, and my flight leaves at 8:55 a.m. I normally like to get to the airport 2 hours before my flight - yes, I know that's fairly early, but I always say that I'd prefer to wait at the airport rather than be stuck in traffic somewhere worried about getting to the airport in time. Plus, I'll go ahead and grab breakfast at the airport before my flight.

I was thinking of taking the 5:30 a.m. shuttle, hoping that between travel time and probably regular workday rush hour starting by 6 or so that I should be at the airport by 7. I'm not sure when rush hour starts in LA. My only experience is Northern Virginia/DC rush hour, which unfortunately seems to be 24/7/365 - LOL!

For those of you who are familiar with LA traffic and the distance to the airport, do you think that gives me plenty of time?

I travel to LAX a few times a year and think you're right. I'd take the 5:30 shuttle and start my day relaxed. It always a amazes me that no matter what time you hit LAX there's lots of activity.

Travel safe:wizard:

We were really lucky on our return back in August. We had a rental car and our flight was at noon I think, so I was nervous about dropping off the rental car and traffic in general. I think we left at 8:30 (we had an 'international' flight to Vancouver) thinking it would take us about an hour an a half to get to the airport all in, but there was just regular traffic and the rental drop off was SO fast. So I maybe wouldn't worry so much next time I do it... maybe. I think 6am would be fine!!

That was SO not helpful, sorry :P

I don't know if you already booked this or not, but we didn't have a choice with our Super Shuttle. They asked us when our flight left, and then they told us the time they would pick us up. It saved a lot of headaches trying to figure out the times.
