Do they make a different type of travel laundry detergent than Tide? I'm allergic to Tide. I'd like to take something though just in case I need to do Laundry.

I bought a two-load bottle of All Small & Mighty in the travel size section of Wal-Mart. It's reeealllly small.

Hi,
I sign up for samples of everything from the budget board here or another one I can give you with tons of new freebies. I have about 7 single packets of detergent and tons of softener for travel and they won't open in flight and spill as they are single use.

Sign up for free samples and then save them for Disney.

I bought this for my last trip, it works really well, and it does do two loads for the little bottle, I use it at home too, so it was nice not switching detergents while on vacation.

DS is allergic to Tide also. However DH is not. So, I bought the Tide travel size and used it on DH's blue jeans, then filled it w/ our Cheer Free for vacation.

You can put powder detergent in a ziplock bag for travel, or put liquid detergent in a mini waterbottle (and put this in a bag in case of leaks). This way you can use whatever kind of detergent you like and you don't need to go out and buy anything.

I usually buy the little bottles of detergent but this last year I just put powder (enough for one load) in small baggies. Than I put all of them (I think there were 3 little bags) in a larger baggie in case of a leak. It worked out fine. enjoy

That's exactly what I'd do - bring the detergent you've been using with you. If you have sensitivity to some laundry soaps, you don't want to chance having a reaction while on vacation. You can pack powder in a ziploc, as mentioned above, or liquid in a small plastic bottle.

The all small and mighty is really good and it comes in a smaller bottle than the other ones!! Have fun on your trip!

I usually buy a couple of boxes from our local laundramat. We use Tide but I know ours has several different brands. Ours costs 50 cents a box and is good for 2-3 loads.

We've got a vacuum food sealer and we used it to create little laundry packets.

I hope this makes sense. For each load, we took a small bag and put a fabric softener sheet in one end and vacuum sealed that in a small area, then we added one load's worth of dry detergent to the other end of the bag and vacuum sealed that.

We typically use liquids at home, but we found these little packets worked great for travelling. So well, that we keep a couple in the bottom of our suitcases for emergencies all the time.

We do this also. It is a cheap way to do it! The same lil boxes at the disney laundry rooms are a couple of bucks. The workers at our laundrymats must think we are crazy.. We show up.. buy a couple of boxes and leave. lol

I just pre-measure powdered detergent into zip top bags and place those and some dryer sheets in a larger zip top. Its lighter to carry than liquid.

The last time I was there, I saw a family with a wonderful idea. They had an empty coke bottle. The size of what yout get out of a vending machine, and they had it filled with their powders, and softeners. It seemed like a great idea to me.

I just did the same thing, but I used liquid Tide. Then put all the packets into a large ziplock bag.

Wisk (and probably some others) make individually-wrapped laundry detergent tablets. Each is sealed in its own cellophane wrapper, very convenient for travel.

I do this as well - I use an empty shampoo bottle and put into a doubled ziplock bag.

After reading a suggestion on this board, I bought a box of powered detergent that I like to use and save it for trips. I measure out enough to do one load and put it in a ziploc sandwich bag. I make enough to cover my trip. Then I put the sandwich bags in a larger zip loc with enough dryer sheets to match. All set.

I do like the CocaCola Bottle idea and the detergent at Walmart sounds like something good to check out but I do agree that if you are sensitive to Tide, I wouldn't risk having a reaction on vacation and I would stick to what you normally use.

Have a great trip! :wizard:

I would definitely go with powder detergent..one less "product" that could leak or pop.

I'm very allergic to Tide and most other scented detergents. It's very hard to find "Free and clear" powders, though! In the past I've put liquid laundry detergent into a washed out juice bottle (like you'd get out of a vending machine). I put it in by the capful, and marked the side of the bottle with a permanent marker after each capful so I wouldn't need anything to measure with. (I hope that makes sense. It's 2:00 AM and I'm pretty tired!) I then put the whole bottle in a plastic bag sealed tightly. This worked so well when I was in college that I kept refilling the small bottle so I didn't have to lug the huge jug of detergent to the basement laundry room all the time. :) I've never had a leak during travel. If you're concerned about leaking, you could put the bottle inside a slightly larger tupperware type container, just in case. I can't justify the cost of the travel size detergents-$1 for 2-4 loads? I can get 40 loads for under $3 of my good ol' whatever's- on-sale-without-fragrances detergents! I put a few dryer sheets in a baggie to take, too, and I have a trial sized hairspray bottle that I put Shout stain remover in. Worked great last trip!
