hi

Driving myself mad lol

Can I ask have you got unlimited amount for medical expenses?

Quite a few I am looking at are 20M (per couple) or 10m each

Would you be happy with this amount if for America

Thanks

i don't follow.....the amount that you're covered for medical expenses is how much? 20 million? that's a lot of money

Hi :)

Yes that's correct ... I know it's a ridiculous amount but I know how expensive insurance would cost in the US

Was hoping someone from the UK could confirm how much theirs is

Would have thought that would cover a medical evacuation back to the UK many many times if the worst came to the worst.

our travel insurance is much much much much much less than that..
i have to go find the one we got for the trip to the states last year...
but i know it was nothing like that amount of money..

Ours is £10m each with AA travel, their cheaper (Essentials) policy covers £2m each.
Usually a top policy will be £10m to unlimited, cheaper policies £1-5m

i see the ones where i live are much lower, but i guess because they all include medical evac back home.
So i guess once you're stabilized they put you on a special medivac plane with medical staff and take you home where it doesn't cost $10,000 just to take your temperature (as it does in america)...

When I worked in Holiday Insurance, the general advice as that you don't need much over £2m for medical cover and repatriation.

It's the 3rd Party Injury costs that get in the silly millions.

We're looking at a policy which covers £2.5 million per person medical and £2 million third party, is this good enough?

Found this on Gocompare
The Foreign Office recommends a minimum of £1m medical cover for Europe and £2m for the rest of the world

Thanks, we live in France so can't use UK insurers and normally go with Worldwide Travel Insurance who although UK based specialise in EU residents insurance and their basic policies start at £2.5 million for health. Having seen other people get cover for up to £10 million it got me thinking maybe £2.5 million wasn't enough.

I don't bother much about the medical cover limit. I look at other factors that do concern me like cruise cover and covering DW for high blood pressure. We pay around £100 (after cashback) for annual worldwide cover, don't see point in looking or cheaper with lower medical cover at that price.
