HI All,

I have booked a trip to Hawaii for Christmas :woohoo: We will be staying with my brother for 14 of the days on Kauai, but on the last night I was able to get us a 2 bedroom at Aulani.

Having read about the people stuck right now in Hawaii was a reminder for me that I should probably get some travel insurance - it was a nice slap in the face that you never know what can happen while on vacation - even while in paradise!

All I really need covered is flights, and the one night at Aulani? Then what? If we got stuck does it help you pay for more nights until you can go home? How do you value your room if you used points?

Lastly, I don't know if it is possible to mention companies on the board because in my searching I see people saying I used xxx company, so I am assuming there are insurance sponsors for the boards here (I am fine with using them, just don't know who). Any recommendations?

This is the first time I am being "responsible" and getting travel insurance :lmao:

DVC reservations are insured with travelex, and I believe that's the only one you can use for DVC. If you have a claim, you get the DUES back. I assume that if the points can be put back into your account by DVC, you get that and no dues (and therefore the insurance isn't used).

Then you would add flights, etc, onto that insurance.

Thanks! I ended up calling travelex and the lady told me that my whole trip would not be covered because I am not staying at Disney the whole time. She said my return flight would be covered because I am staying at aulani my last night, and if it were cancelled then the hotel, etc would be covered.

Now I'm not sure what to do. I think I am mostly worried about getting stuck there, since we are staying with my brother for the two weeks leading up to the aulani stay. But if there is snow we could just go back to his house maybe? I have to mull this over I guess. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know how to see which uy points are applied to which reservation on the website?

What airline are you flying? I book the insurance that Delta offers on their website, it's like $25 (for one person).

I would love an easy way to do this. We own at VGC and Aulani so sometimes I also have to figure out which resort points were used. The only way I know to find it is to print out the activity statement from the website by contract and compare to each upcoming reservation.

We will fly Hawaiian airlines for this trip. I didn't pay any attention if they offered it. We have had the tickets for over a month now.

Before we bought DVC and started purchasing the insurance offered for DVC, we used to get our travel insurance through Insure My Trip. You can choose the coverage that best suits your needs, but there is no coverage available for your points. If there was a hurricane though I believe that would fall under Disney's hurricane policy(?)
