I specifically said I did NOT want this added to my package, but for the 2nd time (2nd ressie) - it was added!

If I knew the cost of this, I could determine if I thought it was of value, but when they lump it in a package I don't know what I'm paying for it!

I took out insurance for the Disney cruise, but never a DW trip.

Does anyone know what I'm paying for this?? And is it a new thing that they add it to your package despite your request?

who did you book the package through?

When I booked last week (thru Disney World) I was told the price she gave me included the insurance, and I asked how much it was and what it covered.

The woman explained it all and I kept it. Today I got the policy in the mail.

We booked directly with WDW twice and with AAA 3 times (inc. upcoming April '08 trip) and asked each time how much the trip insurance was exactly before deciding whether to purchase (we did each time). Both WDW and AAA provided us with the cost exactly to the penny. This year AAA charged us $66.90 per adult (17 yoa or over) for trip insurance, well worth it I think for a $3k - $4k package.

We always take the trip insurance and it was approximately $120 for the three of us. To me it's worth the peace of mind for the money that we have spent. April can't come fast enough.

less than $70pp but they only charge the $70 for adults so if there's 2 adults and 2 kids in the room, you're getting all 4 people covered for $140. Those of the younger set might think they don't need it; however, one should also consider not only themselves but their immediate family. (Would you still take your trip if your parent or grandparent became gravely ill? how about if you're called to jury duty?) (Geez, I hope that cover jury duty as I've been called to a jury for 4-6 weeks which could bleed right into my trip if the jury isn't selected the first couple days!:scared1:

I booked directly through Disney.

I think I'm just feeling like they get you one way or the other, all these costs you don't seem to have control over...what happened to making the customer happy???...I feel it's cutting into my 40% off....and it's really aggravating me since this time she asked if I wanted it and I said no, the first time it was just added without asking.

I guess I'm a gambler, I would rather get a credit for my airline tickets, etc. in the event of an emergency, instead of spending more money on something I probably won't need.

I'm sure there's something with a Mickey on it I need more!!:rotfl2:

The problem with the insurance is that it is non-refundable. You can cancel the trip and get your $200 deposit back, but the insurance $ is gone forever!

If you want insurance I would not buy it before the 45 day window when your deposit is completely refundable and you have not actually risked any money. Even then, up until the day before you leave, all you are risking not being refunded is the $200 deposit. It seems all you are really insuring is an interrupted trip due to weather or illness.

I called this morning and ask them to take it off...it will be interesting to see my new amount when I get the invoice.

Thanks everyone for helping me through my meltdown!

When you call Disney, they will automatically add it on unless you say not to.

I don't think the insurance is really worth it-- on a package, if you cancel the day before you leave, they will refund the whole package minus $200 cancellation fee. If you have insurance you are going to lose $66.95 per adult.
