We are going November 10 - 16 and staying at Animal Kindgdom Lodge. Should be purchase travel insurance thru disney or is there another company that is better???

I always debated the travel insurance thing.

Earlier this month we were in WDW and I had a fall at Epcot. Ended up in the ER, lots of x-rays, and ended up w/ a sprained left foot and right sprained forefoot. Three weeks later, still hurting!

But just last week it occurred to me - "WAIT! We had travel insurance!" So I called the 800 number and sure enough, they will cover whatever is left over after my medical insurance pays their part. Luckily, there should just be 10% left over....and travel insurance will serve as secondary coverage. That 10% could potentially be 100's of dollars!

The travel insurance rep was very nice. She said it would be no problem, and to just call them when I get a statement showing what the remaining balance is and then they would open a claim for me.

I guess I should post agian once everything IS indeed paid for. But for now, I am very happy!

Will you fall while you're on vacation? Likely, NO. But will I get travel insurance the NEXT time we go to WDW? Absolutely!!!

SarahKate- Sorry the fall messed up your trip! Hope you feel better soon.

Trip insurance has paid me twice for beach trips cut short due to hurricanes. I will never spend the amount of money I do on a Disney trip and not get trip insurance. You never know what can happen.

I absolutely agree that travel insurance is a good thing. I would have never thought about it until some friends of ours had to delay thier trip to WDW a few weeks due to a hurricane. Based on thier experience we got it, and the night before we left home I came down with a stomach bug. We pushed our trip back three days to make sure I was over it and not contageous. With the insurance we were able to reschedule everything, no problems. So you never know what you may need it for.
